Gertrude M. (Cox) Turgeon, “Trudy,” age 88, of Fall River, passed away Monday, September 3, 2007 in Kimwell Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Romeo A. Turgeon. 
Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late James P. and Annie C. (Madden) Cox. She spent her youth on Frost St. in Fall River, lived on Brackett Ave. in Tiverton for 42 years, and the John Clark Retirement Center in Middletown before returning back to Fall River recently.
In addition to being a homemaker she enjoyed traveling and dancing. She was a member of the Tiverton High School Boosters Club. She was an active communicant of Holy Ghost Church and a member of its Womens Guild. She was also a communicant of the former St. Williams Church in Fall River.  
She is survived by one daughter Carol J. Dias and her husband Raymond of Fall River, one grandson Robert Dias of Fall River and several nieces and nephews. She was mother of the late Robert J. Turgeon and sister of the late Annie R. Bishop, Dorothy Ring, and Edward J., James J., and Thomas J. Cox.

William Joseph Sullivan husband of Margaret Mary (Nawrocki) Sullivan. His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday September 8, 2007 at 10am in Church of the Holy Name 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Norberto R. Melo
Norberto R. Melo, 79, of Orchard St., died Tuesday at home. Husband of Catarina (Bonanca) Melo. He immigrated from St. Michael, Azores in 1980. He retired from the former American Dryer Co. Frank C. Nordeste
Frank C. Nordeste age 92 of 59 Dublin St., Somerset. Husband of Teresa (Correa) Nordeste. Son of the late John C. & Mary (Estrella) Nordeste. Passed away at home Sept. 5, 2007. Born in Somerset & now a resident since 1946. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, the VFW & DAV. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II, serving with the 3rd Inf. Battalion. Before retiring, he worked for the Somerset Water Dept. Besides his wife of Somerset, he is survived by l Daughter: Janice Koetting of Springfield, MO. 5 Siblings all of Somerset: Daniel C. & Edward C. Nordeste, Ann Wilson, Olive Souza & Delores Sousa. 2 Grandchildren: Amanda & Laura Koetting & several nieces & nephews. He was also brother of the late Manuel C., Alfred C. & John C. Nordeste & Mary Vincent.

Luisa C. Curvelo
Luisa C. (Costa) Curvelo, 48, of 39 Berkley St., Fall River, died Tuesday at the Highlander Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was the wife of David P. Curvelo. 
Born in Ponta Garca, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of Maria V. (Leite) Carneiro of Fall River and the late Manuel Costa Carneiro, she resided in Fall River for the past 25 years. 
Mrs. Curvelo last worked as a seamstress at Gilda’s Bridal Shop. She previously worked at Capri Bridal and for many years at Santoro Manufacturing. 
She was a member of Santo Christo Parish and its Holy Rosary Sodality. Mrs. Curvelo was very active in parish events, regularly volunteering at church suppers, feasts and retreats. 
She enjoyed camping, the outdoors, baking and sewing. 
Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter, Marlene Curvelo of Fall River; a son, David M. Curvelo of Fall River; a sister, 
Eduarda M. Pacheco and her husband Victor of Taunton, MA; two brothers, Carlos M. Costa and Jose H. Costa and his wife Anna, both of Fall River; several nieces and nephews. 
Her funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo

Laura Roderiques
Laura “Boots” (Souza) Roderiques, age 81, of New Boston Rd., formerly of Pitman St. Passed away in Fall River Sept. 4, 2007. Wife of the late Joaquim Roderi-ques. Daughter of the late Mariano & Mariana (Farias) Souza. Born in Fall River and a lifelong resident. Before retiring she was the Owner & Operator of “Laura’s Hairstyling” on Pleasant St. Previously she had worked as a Fall River Traffic Crossing Guard & then as a Teachers Aide for Citizens for Citizens Head Start Program. She was a member of Espirito Santo Church & had run for Fall River School Committee in the past. 
She is survived by 4 daughters: Roslind De Matos of Westport, Sandra Fournier of Swansea, Donna Petrasso & Doreen Venancio both of 
Fall River. 11 Grandchildren & 7 Great Grandchildren. Several nieces & nephews. She was also sister of the late Manuel, Joseph, & John “Harry” Souza & Rose Ferreira.

Paula Zais
Paula (Cohen) Zais, 71 of E. Providence passed away peacefully on Sept. 4th after a short illness. Born in Fall River, Ma. she was the daughter of the late Israel and Anne (Kaufman) Cohen. Paula is survived by her only daughter Deborah Chabon, son-in-law John, and her beloved grandsons, Jake and Nick all of Louisville CO. She leaves a sister Ellin O’Hara of Manchester, N.H. Paula had many friends who will all miss her dearly. Her final resting place will be in Colorado. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Sat. Sept. 8th 1-4pm at the home of Peter Lash, 16 Mayo Drive, Warren, R.I. 247-2461

Amorina Jacome
Fall River — Amorina (Raposa) Jacome, of Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center, No. Main St., Fall River, formerly of Riverview Towers Apart-ments, Milliken Blvd., Fall River, died Monday, September 3, 2007 at the Center. She was the beloved wife of Diniz S. Jacome. Born in Fall River, MA, a daughter of the late Joao and the late Serafina (Mello) Raposa, she resided in Fall River for most of her life. Mrs. Jacome worked as a seamstress sample maker in the local garment industry until she retired at the age of 62. She was a member of the former International Ladies Garment Workers Union, now U.N.I.T.E. 
She was a parishoner of Santo Christo Church. 
Besides her husband, she is survived by her beloved daughter, Seraphina A. Lagace and her husband Robert of Woburn, MA; her beloved grandchildren, 
Pamela Lagace of Natick, MA and Marc Lagace of Woburn, MA; a niece, Maria DeVido of Somerset, MA. She was the loving sister of the late Laurentina Vieira.

Jennie K. Knowe
EAST LONGMEADOW Jennie K. (Czapiga) Knowe, 91 of Somerset St East Longmeadow Ma. Formerly of Slade St Fall River, died Monday at the Red Stone Nursing Center, in East Longmeadow. She was the wife of the late Edward F Knowe.
She was born in Fall River a daughter of the late Vincent & Helen (Kocor) Czapiga. She was a presser for many years at local Textile Mills. She was a lifelong Fall River resident before moving to East Longmeadow 6 years ago. She was a parishioner of the former St Williams Church now Holy Trinity Church in Fall River. She enjoyed dancing.
She is survived by a son and daughter in law Ronald & Kathleen (Ksen) Knowe of East Longmeadow, a brother and sister in law Peter & Ruth Czapiga of Fall River, a sister and late brother in law Genevieve & the late Henry Kozak of Fall River. She was the sister in law of Eva Czapiga. 2 grandchildren and their spouses Kelly Ann & Mark Carrington, Douglas M & Michelle Knowe, 2 great grandchildren Allison Mae Carrington, Katie Caroline Knowe. Several nieces and nephews. She was the sister and sister in law of the late Walter and Wanda Czapiga, Joseph Czapiga, Julia Czapiga, and also the late Mary “Mae” Skrzypiec and her husband the late Walter.
