Angelina (Medeiros) Alves of Williams Street, Dighton died Saturday September 1, 2007 at Brigham & Womens Hospital Boston. She was the wife of Arthur I. Alves of Dighton. She was 76.
She was born in Fall River, MA and was the daughter of the late Hortencio & Maria (Rezendes) Medeiros. She was educated in Fall River.
Mrs. Alves worked as a sales lady for Apex in Swansea for 10 years and other retail stores. She retired at the age of 60. She was a communicant of St. Peters Church Dighton. In her spare time she loved to dance and travel.
In addition to her husband Arthur, She is survived by 3 sons; Arthur T. Alves of Dighton, Stephen A. Alves of New Bedford, Michael A. Alves of West Roxbury, 1 daughter; Kathleen A. Alves of Sebastopol, CA. and 1 sister Mary Gagnon of Fall River. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 2 nephews.

Jeannette DuPont

Jeannette DuPont, age 97, of Fall River, passed away Friday August 31, 2007. She was the wife of the late Ludger DuPont and also the late Roland Daignault. She was the daughter of Onesime Masson and Mathilde (Chartier) Masson.
She is survived by one stepson, Lionel DuPont, of Fall River; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Roland Daignault and the grandmother of the late Michael Daignault.
Mrs. DuPont’s funeral will be held on Tuesday September 4, 2007 at 8:15 AM from the BOULE FUNERAL HOME, 615 Broadway, Fall River, MA. Followed by a funeral Mass at 9:30 in Catholic Memorial Home, Fall River, MA. Interment will be in the Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Evelyn Lewis
Evelyn (Paulo) Lewis, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Antonio Paulo and widow of the late William Lewis, died on the evening of August 31, 2007 at Charlton Memorial Hospital from Ovarian Cancer at the age of 82. Evelyn emigrated to New Bedford from the island of Terceira in 1942 at the age of 17.
Evelyn is survived by her only daughter Gwendolyn Lemieux also of New Bedford. Evelyn was a loving grandmother to her four grandchildren David McGrath, Michelle Dearden, Aja McGrath, and Lori Dearden Cote. She is also survived by her four great grandchildren Michael Montigny, Kurtis McGrath, Robert Cote, and Evalina Irene DeSousa.
Evelyn worked at the Hathaway Mills for over 20 years and also at States Nightware for 10 years. She spent the remainder of her life working at the Schwartz Center and Coastline Elderly until she retired in 2002 at the age of 77. At which time she dedicated her life to taking care of her loving cats Pebbles, Bootsie, and the late Dinky.
Evelyn will always be remembered for her warm smile, loving embrace and many words of wisdom.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME of MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BROOKLAWN, 15 Irvington Court, New Bedford. Ernest A. Paul, 64, of Globe St., Fall River, son of the late Norman Paul and Florence "Flo" (Paradis) Paul-Paulino, died Friday, August 31, 2007.
A member of the Italian Progressive Club, he was employed by People, Inc.
He leaves his companion Pamela Boulanger; children, Bonnieann Paul, Ernest Paul and Tina Sinclair and her husband Shawn, all of Fall River and Maryann Paul of Tiverton; brothers, Norman "Pete" Paul and Thomas Worsley, both of Fall River and Donald Paul of FL; a sister, Rosemary Paradis of Philadelphia; grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and nieces and nephews.

Roger N. Porter
Roger N. Porter, "Rog," age 78 of Barrington, passed away, Friday August 31, 2007 in the Providence V.A. Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Barbara J. (Lavin) Porter to whom he had been married for the past 16 years. He was also the beloved husband of the late Faye R. (Carrick) Porter.
Born in Dighton, he was a son of the late Edward L. and Maria C. (Gagne) Porter. He spent his youth in Taunton and lived on Prairie Avenue in Swansea for 35 years before moving to Barrington in 1986.
Mr. Porter was a 1947 graduate of Taunton High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served between World War II and the Korean War. He was a Commercial Fisherman and a Mill Wright at Texas Instrument in Attleboro for 20 years.
He was a third degree Mason belonging to the King David Lodge in Taunton. He loved the ocean and enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
He was a devoted father to seven children Norman J. Porter and his wife Deborah L. of Plymouth, Richard N. Porter and his wife Linda of Swansea, Eileen F. Allison of Pawtucket, RI, Amy M. Scanlon and her husband Raymond K. JR. of Swansea, Kelly L. Travis-Vieira and her husband John Jr. of Riverside, RI, Kristine L. Travis and Kimberly A. Ascenio both of East Providence, RI. He is survived by 16 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Bernice Rose, Fred Morgan, and Roy and George Porter.

FRAMINGHAM - Margaret "Peggy" (Zimmer) Bergen, 86, of Framingham, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at the Kathleen Daniel Nursing and Rehab in Framingham.

She was the wife of Clement A. Bergen, who died in 1985.

Born in Norwood, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (O'Neil) Zimmer. She was a resident of Framingham for the past seven years and formerly lived in Norfolk and Norwood.

Before her retirement, Mrs. Bergen was a receptionist at HESSCO in Foxboro for eight years. She was a member and past-president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Medfield and was also a member of the Norfolk Senior Citizens Club.

She leaves a daughter, Leona May York of Framingham; two sisters, Christine Wonbolt of East Bridgewater and Martha Corsini of Manchester, N.H.; two grandchildren, Robyn L. Fink and her husband, Robert, of Woonsocket, R.I., and Renee L. Foreman and her husband, Wayne, of Marlborough; eight great-grandchildren, David, Jordan, Shaniece, Amy, Devan, Aysha, Zac and Jason; 10 foster-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was sister of the late Joseph, Francis and Donna Zimmer.

Her funeral will take place Wednesday, Sept. 5, from the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com), 892 Main St., Walpole, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Jude's Church, 86 Main St., Norfolk.

Joseph M. Celozzi

MILFORD - Joseph M. Celozzi, 73, of Milford, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at his home.

He was the husband of Virginia I. (Smith) Celozzi for 51 years.

Born in Milford, he was the son of the late Michael and Ella (Shusas) Celozzi and was a lifelong Milford resident. He was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1951, where he was a star athlete. He played semi-pro baseball in the southern states.

Retiring in 1996 from the Coan Oil Company in Natick, he was employed as a service technician. Previously he was employed at the Milford Heating and Cooling Company in Milford.

He was an active member of the Hoboken Citizen's Club and a social member of the Milford Italian Veteran's.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons Joseph K. Goodnow of St. Petersburg Fla., Michael H. Celozzi of Milford; one daughter, Suzanne A. Ratcliffe of Franklin, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Christopher Ratcliffe of Tempe, Ariz., Michelle Dowd of Franklin, Tenn., Michelle Creasia of Milford, John Markman and Lilly Goodnow, both of St. Petersburg Fla.; four great-grandchildren; four nieces and one nephew.

He was the father of the late John Goodnow and Frank Goodnow, and the brother of the late Elaine V. Sayles.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday Sept. 4, at 11 a.m., at the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home (www.consigliruggeriofuneralhome.com), 46 Water St., Milford.

A graveside service will follow in the Vernon Grove Cemetery on Depot Street in Milford.

J. Audrey Gianetti

FRANKLIN - J. Audrey (Johnson) Gianetti, 82, of Franklin, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at Caritas Norwood Hospital, following a long illness.

She was the wife of Zeffro V. Gianetti.

Lucy I. Jette

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Lucy Isabel Jette, 90, of North Attleboro, died peacefully Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro.

She was the beloved wife of Omer R. Jette who died in 1985.

Born in Attleboro, she was a daughter of the late Alonzo and Josephine (Foley) Benson, and was raised and educated in Attleboro, graduating from Attleboro High School, Class of 1935, and later Bentley College in Boston.

Years ago, she was employed by the former Evans Case Company in North Attleboro. She was an office manager at B & J Jewelry Company in Attleboro Falls, a company owned and operated by her late husband, Omer, from the early 1950's until they retired in 1980.

Following retirement Lucy and Omer settled in California for 14 years and later returned to North Attleboro. A resident of Madonna Manor Nursing Home since February, she had lived 10 years at Circle Court in North Attleboro.

She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, knitting and was a sports enthusiast, particularly enjoying the New England Patriots.

She leaves one son, Roger O. Jette and his wife, Sylvia, of North Attleboro; a daughter, Elaine M. Melbardis of Wellesley; two brothers, Harry Benson of Bellflower, Calif., and Horace Benson of Attleboro; six grandchildren, Maija Melbardis of Brookline, Krista Melbardis of Wellesley, James Jette of North Attleboro, John Jette, Roger O. Jette Jr. and Ryan Jette, all of Franklin; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Louis Benson.

Visiting hours are Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro.

A funeral will be conducted Thursday, Sept. 6, at 9 a.m., from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home (www.duffy-poule.com), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St., Attleboro celebrated by the Rev. Richard Roy, Pastor.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro.

Dr. Aran Kasparyan

AMHERST - Dr. Aran Kasparyan 86, of Amherst, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, after a brief illness.

He was the husband of Dr. Virjin (Gurman) Kasparyan, who died in June of 2007.

Born in Istanbul, Turkey, he was the son of the late Melkon and Nina Kasparyan.

A graduate of Istanbul University Medical School, he received a medical doctorate degree in internal medicine. He was employed for 25 years as a staff physician, and for 20 years as Medical Director at the former Belchertown State Hospital in Belchertown. He was also an Assistant Professor of Community and Family Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. Dr. Kasparyan retired in 1987.

He was resident of Belchertown for six years before he moved to Amherst, where he had lived for the past 36 years. He was a member of Saint Francis Catholic Church in Belchertown.

He leaves his son, Dr. Nurhan George Kasparyan and his wife, Dr. Elizabeth Calmar, of Southborough; his four grandchildren, Catherine, Andrew, James and George; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Bogos Kasparyan.

Visiting hours are Tuesday, Sept 4, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St. (Rte. 30), Southborough.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, at 9 a.m, at Saint Francis Catholic Church, 24 Jabish St., Belchertown.

Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield.

Janet E. Marcoaldi

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Janet Elizabeth Marcoaldi, 72, of Lake Worth, Fla., formerly of Framingham, died peacefully Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of Alexander H. Marcoaldi for 53 years.

Born in Hyannis, a daughter of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Gosling) Bazzinotti of Sandwich, she was a 32-year resident of Framingham prior to moving to Lake Worth in 1990.

She was a retired outside plant engineer for New England Telephone Co. (now Verizon), and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and past president of the Lake Worth chapter.

Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Robert D. Marcoaldi of Buffalo, N.Y., Alexander W. Marcoaldi and his wife, Kim, of Holliston and Joseph F. "Jack" Marcoaldi and his wife, Cindy, of Framingham; four grandsons, Nicholas, Derek, Jay and Jesse of Holliston; a cousin, Virginia Desjourdy of Milford; and three nieces.

She was predeceased by a grandson, James A. Marcoaldi.

There are no visiting hours.

Chester J. Nowasacki, Jr.

ORR'S ISLAND, Maine - Chester J. Nowasacki Jr., 67, of Orr's Island, Maine, formerly of Hudson, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, at Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick, Maine, after a sudden illness.

Born in Marlborough, he was a son of the late Chester J. Sr. and Evelyn (Costa) Nowasacki, and was a graduate of Hudson High School, Class of 1958. He later attended Southern Illinois University, earning his bachelor of science degree in education.

He was a former elementary school teacher in the Northborough Public School System and later owned and operated Spec-Tec, Ltd., a wire distribution company in Worcester.

He enjoyed the outdoors often fishing and observing wildlife, especially birds. An avid cribbage player, he also enjoyed crosswords and reading and enjoyed the times he spent with his dogs.

He leaves his daughter, Jessica Markowitz and her husband, David, of Auburn; his sister, Donna Long and her husband, Jeffrey, of Marlborough; his nephew and godson, Peter Long of Mansfield; a nephew, William Long of Shrewsbury; and his former wives, Mary J. Nowasacki of Auburn, and Marjorie (Walter) Parker of Georgetown, Maine.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home Inc. (www.tighehamilton.com.), 50 Central St. Hudson. The Hudson High School Class of 1958 will meet Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Russell

BROOKLINE, N.H. - Elizabeth (Howatt) Russell, 81, of Brookline, N.H., formerly of Melrose and Natick, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007.

She was the wife of Douglas L. Russell.

A graduate of Natick High School, Class of 1943 and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston, Class of 1945, she was a longtime secretary for the New England Forestry Foundation, and Leslie Cutler, State Senator, Massachusetts State House Minority Leader and Secretary, House Ways and Means.

She had recently published "The Russell Homestead 1757-2007, 250th Anniversary," a book detailing the history of the Russell Homestead.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Milford, N.H.

Besides her husband, she leaves her children, Gail Russell Chaddock of Chevy Chase, Md., Leigh Russell Daugherty of Brookline, N.H., and Marianne Russell Wahlberg of Scarsdale, N.Y.; her grandchildren, Christina Daugherty of Brookline, and Alexandra and Erik Wahlberg of Scarsdale; her brothers, George Howatt of Paxton and Robert Howatt of Natick; a sister-in-law, Jean Turkington of Concord, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private.

ADAMS -- Irene Robert, 88, formerly of the Barrett House, 17 Pleasant St., died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at Hillcreast Commons in Pittsfield.

Born in St. Leon de Val-Racine, Quebec, Canada, on Dec. 17, 1918, daughter of Fortunat and Rose Paradis Gagne, she attended schools there and emigrated to North Adams as a teenager.

Mrs. Robert was employed by Greylock Greenhouses for many years. Before that, she worked briefly for Greylock Mills Co. in North Adams. Her last place of employment was the former Jarisch Box Co. in North Adams.

She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne.

Her husband, Lionel J. Robert, whom she married Sept. 28, 1940, died June 25, 1985.

She leaves two sons, Andre Robert of Dalton and Leonard Robert of Pittsfield; two daughters, Jeannette Twardowski of Adams and Sister Yvette Robert C. S. C. of Manchester, N.H.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Irene Robert, who died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Community of Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or HospiceCare in the Berkshires through the funeral home. She leaves five grandchildren, Lynn Field of Adams, Susan Condron of New Lebanon, N.Y., Christopher Robert of Wayland, Cynthia Pupo of King of Prussia, Pa., and Jessica Robert of Washington, D.C.; two great-grandchildren, Sophia Condron and Ryan Pupo; two daughters-in-law, Bonnie (Andrew) and Laurie Robert; a son-in-law, Charles Twardowski; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-nieces and -great-nephews. The last of 17 children, she enjoyed walking and spending time with her family.
