Lucy Ashcroft
MILFORD - Lucy (Paradiso) Ashcroft, 87, of Milford, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, at her home, after a short illness.
She was the wife of Richard N. Ashcroft Sr.
Mrs. Ashcroft was born in Milford, the daughter of the late Matteo and Joanna (Silcito) Paradiso. She was a lifelong resident of Milford and attended Milford schools.
Mrs. Ashcroft was employed by the G.E. Telechron Co. in Ashland for many years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Milford.
Besides her husband, she leaves one son, Richard ``Rick'' N. Ashcroft Jr. of Milford; three daughters, Cassandra ``Cass'' Jones of Houston, Texas, Marilyn Eldridge of Manchester, N.H., and Lynda Hobbs and her husband, Dwayne, of Mechanicsville, Va.; one brother, Donald Paradiso of Milford; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Michael Paradiso, Mario Paradiso and Alex Paradiso, Connie Poirier and Mary Rybakiewicz.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m., in the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home (bumafuneralhome.com), 42 Congress St., Milford.
Burial will follow in the North Purchase Cemetery, Purchase Street, Milford.
Calling hours will be Saturday, Aug. 25, 10 to 11 a.m., in the funeral home, prior to the funeral.

Philip S. Ferraro
FRANKLIN - Philip S. Ferraro, 78, of Franklin, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of Marie E. (Grisafi) Ferraro, who died in 2003.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of the late Felice and Rose (Romanagno) Ferraro, he formerly lived in Elmont, N.Y., before moving to Franklin two years ago. He was raised and educated in New York.
He was a retired self-employed excavating contractor.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. He attained the rank of corporal and was awarded the Korean Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in October 1952.
He leaves three sons, Philip F. Ferraro of Commack, N.Y., Gerald S. Ferraro of Farmington, Conn., and Neil P. Ferraro of Franklin; a daughter, Rosemarie D. DeFalco of Toronto, Canada; a sister, Florence DiGennaro of Franklin Square, N.Y.; and 12 grandchildren, Matthew, Lauren, Thomas, Jessica, Jennifer, Stephen, Sarah, Andrew, Carolyn, Ariana, Neil and Lucas.
The funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m., in St. Mary's Church, Ridgefield, Conn.
Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield.

Jacob Heitin
MILFORD - Jacob Heitin, 89, formerly of Worcester, died Thursday, Aug. 23, in the Jewish Healthcare Center.
He was the husband of Esther (Ferman) Heitin for 61 years.
He was born in Webster, a son of Elias and Ida (Levenson) Heitin. He was raised in Worcester and graduated from Classical High School. He lived in Milford since 1936.
He owned and operated Heitin's Market in Milford before becoming an automotive technician for his brother Harry Heitin's Auto Radiator Repair Shop, starting in 1952. Mr. Heitin retired in 1990.
He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel in Milford and served on its board of directors for 12 years. He was a life member of the Metro West Musicians Association.
Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Mark Heitin of Columbus, Ohio, Randy Heitin of Mansfield, Barry Heitin and his wife, Ruth, of Alexandria, Va., and Alan Heitin and his wife, Danouta, of Las Vegas; two grandsons, Eli and Simon Heitin; a granddaughter, Liana Heitin; and a great-grandson.
He was also the brother of the late Harry, Aaron and Benjamin Heitin and Pearl Fine.
The graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today,{Friday, Aug. 24,} in Holy Society Cemetery in Leicester.
Memorial observance will be held Sunday, Aug. 26, from 2 to 8 p.m., at his residence in Milford.
Memorial donations may be made to Yeshiva Achei Tmimim, 22 Newton Ave, Worcester, MA 01602, or to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 1029 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609, or to a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St., Worcester.
Prevelige
MILFORD - Funeral services for Elizabeth ``Beth'' A. Jennings Prevelige were held Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, from the Buma Sargeant Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at St. Mary Church, celebrated by the Rev. Kevin Hartford, associate pastor.
Sister Theresa Lucier assisted at the altar.
Acolytes were Harold Getz and Joan Getz.
The organist was Tony Orifice and the cantors were Donna Horrigan, Judy Thomas and Sandra Piwko. Vocalist was Christine Petersen.
The funeral pall was placed on the casket by Denise Panozzo, Shane Panozzo and Michael Hills. The crucifix was placed on the casket by Michelle Saltter.
Readings were offered by James Sweet and Thomas Tait III.
Gift bearers were Kaeli Prevelige and Brenna Prevelige.
Casket bearers were Peter DiRusso, Patrick Barry, Christopher Szanto, James Sweet, Kevin Sweet and Dylan Prevelige.
Prayers at St. Mary's Cemetery were given by the Rev. Hartford.
Mrs. Prevelige, 34, of Milford, died unexpectedly, Sunday, Aug. 19, in UMass Medical Center, Lake Avenue, Worcester.
