Angelina Alves

Angelina (Medeiros) Alves of Williams Street, Dighton died Saturday September 1, 2007 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston. She was the wife of Arthur I. Alves of Dighton. She was 76.
She was born in Fall River, MA and was the daughter of the late Hortencio & Maria (Rezendes) Medeiros. She was educated in Fall River.
Mrs. Alves worked as a sales lady for Apex in Swansea for 10 years and other retail stores. She retired at the age of 60.
She was a communicant of St. Peters Church Dighton. In her spare time she loved to dance and travel.
In addition to her husband Arthur, She is survived by 3 sons; Arthur T. Alves of New Bedford, Stephan A. Alves of Dighton, Michael A. Alves of West Roxbury, 1 daughter; Kathleen A. Alves of Sebastopol, CA. and 1 sister Mary Gagnon of Fall River. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 2 nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Peter’s Church, Main Street, Dighton, on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. Calling Hours will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Tuesday Sept. 4th, from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Angelina Alves Memorial Fund, P.O. Barbara V. Vanasse
Barbara V. Vanasse age 57, of Brayton Road, Tiverton, RI passed away at home Thursday; August 30,2007. She was the wife of Ronald “Pete” Vanasse.
Born in Boston, MA she was a daughter of the late James Harrington and Janet (Levy) Harrington. Mrs. Vanasse was a registered nurse for many years and also had worked at the Sheraton Tara in Braintree as a manager of its banquet facilities. She was also a hairdresser.
Besides her husband she is survived by six children Brian Collins of Boston, Richard Collins, Pamela Collins, Matthew Meehan all of Las Vegas, Adam Vanasse and Staci Meehan both of Tiverton. Four step children Danielle Chiron of Somerset, Debbie Manchester, Dawn Sanford both of Tiverton and Dean Vanasse of Abington, MA. Two sisters Peggy Smith and Elaine Jourdan and her husband Michael all of Florida. Nine grandchildren Brittany, Samantha, Skylar, Cole, Madison, Macy, Reece, Andy, Brendon Collins. Several nieces and nephews. Also survived by two close friends Debbie Lena and Eunice Kim. Evelyn Lewis
Evelyn (Paulo) Lewis daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Antonio Paulo and widow of the late William Lewis, died on the evening of August 31, 2007 at Charlton Memorial Hospital from Ovarian Cancer at the age of 82. Evelyn immigrated to New Bedford from the island of Terceira in 1942 at the age of 17.
Evelyn is survived by her only daughter Gwendolyn Lemieux and her companion Lloyd W. Crompton II also of New Bedford. Evelyn was a loving grandmother to her four grandchildren David McGrath, Michelle Dearden, Aja McGrath, and Lori Dearden Cote. She is also survived by her five great grandchildren Michael Montigny Kurtis McGrath, Dylan McGrath, Robert Cote, and Evalina Irene DeSousa.
Evelyn worked at the Hathaway Mills for over 20 years and also at States Nightware for 10 years. She spent the remainder of her life working at the Schwartz Center and Coastline Elderly until she retired in 2002 at the age of 77. At which time she dedicated her life to taking care of her loving cats Pebbles, Bootsie, and the late Dinky.
Evelyn will always be remembered for her warm smile, loving embrace and many words of wisdom.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME of MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BROOKLAWN, 15 Irvington Court, New Bedford. Angela R. Sbardella
Angela Rose Sbardella, 21, of Fall River and Westport, died Friday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Fall River, daughter of Kevin Sbardella of Westport and Lori (Reagan) Silva of Fall River. A past Miss Columbus, Angela was currently a hostess, waitress and bartender at the Fall River Country Club where she started working at the age of 15. She recently earned her associates degree at BCC. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Sister of Sydney Silva, Bailey Brooks and Alexis R. Sbardella; loving granddaughter of Angelo “Al” Sbardella and Rosemary (Barboza) Reagan; stepdaughter of Kristen Sbardella; step granddaughter of William and Jane Lister. She also leaves several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St. with her funeral mass to follow in Holy Rosary Church at 10:00. Maria Santos
Maria da Conceicao (Pacheco) Santos, 86 of Woolley St., Fall River, formerly of Mulberry St., died Saturday at her son’s home. She was the wife of the late Manuel Inacio Santos.
Born on October 14, 1920 in Furnas, Sao Miguel, Acores, a daughter of the late Olimpio Lourenco and the late Maria Ester Pacheco, she immigrated to the United States in 1979.
Mrs. Santos was a homemaker. She was a member of the Santo Christo Church and also a member of Sociedade Cultural Acoreana.
She is survived by sons, Joao Francisco Santos, Antonio Jose Santos and his spouse Maria da Luz, Eduardo Santos and his spouse Natalia, Silverio
Santos and his spouse Ana, Fernando Santos and his spouse Norma, and Kevin Santos all of Fall River; and the late Manuel Santos survived by his spouse
Leonia; daughters, Natalia Carvalho and her spouse Herculano of Fall River and Guilhermina Santos and her spouse Michael of Toronto Canada; a sister, Maria de Lourdes Matoes of Lisbon, Portugal; grandchildren;
Helena, Manuel Jr., Deborah, John, Stephanie, Brian, Michael, Richard, Jason, Nancy, David, Jennifer, Mechelle, Leslie, Lori, Sonia, Ossie, Eric, Ashley and Jacob; 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also the sister of the late Ana Amaral and Jose Lourenco.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 5 - 9 p.m.
