Gladys Greenleaf

NATICK - Gladys (Winlock) Greenleaf 89, formerly of Holden, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, in Natick, following a brief illness.

She was the wife of Everett F. Greenleaf, who died in 1975.

Born in Lexington, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Mabel (Grebenstein) Winlock.

A graduate of Lexington High School, Class of 1937, and the Modern School of Applied Art in Boston, Class of 1940, she had worked for the Paine Furniture Co. in Boston in the early 1940s.

She was a member of the Holden Garden Club and the Worcester Horticultural Society and was active in art classes for many years.

She leaves her daughter, Wendy S. Greenleaf; her daughter-in-law, Beth M. Person of Framingham; and her daughter, Deborah Greenleaf and her husband, Salvatore Crisafulli, of Bristol, R.I.; two sisters, Marjorie Alvord of Charlottesville, Va., and Audrey MacCarey of Peabody; and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private.

Araxie 'Grace' LaGreca

MARLBOROUGH - Araxie "Grace" (Seferian) LaGreca, 90, of Marlborough, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at home, surrounded by her family, after an illness.

She was the wife of John J. LaGreca, who died in 1989.

Born in Marash, Turkey, she was a daughter of the late Hagop and Margaret (Haigian) Seferian, had lived in Marlborough for more than 70 years, attended Watertown schools and was a homemaker.

She was an assembler for several years at the former Austin Industries of Marlborough, and also worked at the Middlesex News for several years. She was a former co-owner, with her husband, of LaGreca's Country Store on Hosmer Street in Marlborough for almost 20 years.

She attended St. James Armenian Apostolic Church of Watertown and was a Miss Watertown in the late 1920s.

A volunteer worker for the American Heart Association, she loved to cook and enjoyed gardening.

She leaves her son, John G. LaGreca of Marlborough; a daughter, Sara A. LaGreca of Marlborough; a brother, Anthony Seferian and his wife, Alice, of Watertown; two sisters, Lucy Jelladian and her husband, Richard, of Watertown, and Nora Lalagian of Watertown; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will take place Thursday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m., at St. James Armenian Apostolic Church, Mount Auburn Street, Watertown.

Burial will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Watertown.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main St., Marlborough.

Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either St. James Armenian Apostolic Church, Mount Auburn Street, Watertown, MA 02172, or to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Natick, MA 01760.

William F. Murphy

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - William F. Murphy, 76, of Kissimmee, Fla., and of Cumberland, R.I., and Milford, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at Osceola Regional Hospital after an illness.

He was the husband of Marian L. (Stewart) Murphy, for 55 years.

Born in Milford, he was the son of the late Francis and Beatrice (Evers) Murphy. He attended the former St. Mary's Grammar School and was a graduate of the former St. Mary's High School, Class of 1948.

He was first employed at the Milford Daily News as a typesetter, where he worked for about five years. He later worked for 27 years at the Providence Journal newspaper where he initially worked as a typesetter and eventually became foreman of the composing room.

Upon his retirement from the Providence Journal he moved to Florida and was employed as a communications director for the city of St. Cloud. He also had been employed as a writer for the Osceola News-Gazette.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954, and was the recipient of the Bronze Star.

He had been a resident of Florida from 1981 to 1994, and a resident of Cumberland, R.I., from 1994 until recently returning to Florida. He was an avid newspaper reader and also enjoyed fishing and golfing.

Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Donna M. Murphy of Cumberland, R.I.; one son, Michael F. Murphy and his wife, Holly, of Lincoln, R.I.; two granddaughters, Amanda and Emily Murphy of Lincoln, R.I.; one sister, Agnes Roberts of Manchaug; one brother, John Murphy and his wife, Frances, of Mendon; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, at 1 p.m., at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress St., Milford, with burial of his ashes to follow in South Hopedale Cemetery, Plain Street, Hopedale.

A visiting hour will be held Thursday from noon to 1 p.m., prior to the memorial service.

Robert B. White

NATICK - Robert B. White, 74, of Natick, died unexpectedly, Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, surrounded by his family.

He was the husband of Elaine M. (Kugima) White. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in November.

Born in Boston, he was a son of the late Edward and Agnes (Smolinski) White, and had been a resident of Natick for the past 60 years.

Educated in the Natick school system, he had been a machine operator for the Natick Department of Public Works, retiring after 32 years. He also owned his own upholstery business for many years.

A veteran of the Korean War and a recipient of the Purple Heart, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1949 until his honorable discharge with the rank of sergeant in 1952. He later served with the Reserves for a period of three years.

He was the guiding force to help raise funds for both the World War II and Korean War monuments, both of which he designed, in Moran Square in Natick.

A certified scuba instructor, he helped train members of the Natick, Wayland and Framingham fire departments.

He was a member of the MetroWest Marine Corps League, the Natick Elks, Natick AMVETS and VFW.

An avid fisherman he was a member of the Bushwackers Bass Fishing Club and in his later years took up snowboarding.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, the most important part of his life revolved around his family.

Besides his wife, he leaves four children, Cynthia Bradshaw and her husband, Douglas, of Yorba Linda, Calif., Marie Hilliker and her husband, James, of Framingham, Robert J. White and his wife, Sherry Foster, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Joseph R. White and his wife, Patricia, of Framingham; one brother, Edward S. White and his wife, Ruth, of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; two sisters, Joanne Shukis and her husband, Francis, of Wilmington and Lucille Borum and her husband, Steen, of Bellflower, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, William and Sandra Hilliker, T.J., R.J., Carlo and Kaitlin Foster, Heather and Kristen Bradshaw, Matthew, Nicholas, Corey and Scott White; six great-grandchildren, Talan Foster, Zackery Foster, Kayla, Collin and Brooke Markovitz, and Dustin Hilliker.

He was the brother of the late Agnes Howley.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m., at the Celebration International Church, 6 Loker Way, Wayland.

Burial will follow in Dell Park Cemetery in Natick.

Visiting hours are Thursday, Sept. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home (www.everettfuneral.com), 4 Park St., at Natick Common.
