Henry D. Ahronian, 86, of West Yarmouth, MA, formerly of Millbury, died on Wednesday, December 3rd alongside his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth (Tomasian) Ahronian. Born in Newton, MA he was the son of the late Leon D. and Ruth (Zakarian) Ahronian. A graduate of Hopkinton High School and Worcester Boys Trade, he served many years as a service manager for various trucking companies, retiring in 1989 from Redi Mix Co. of Orleans, MA. Henry thoroughly enjoyed gardening and shell fishing and was a member of the Elks Lodge of Hyannis, MA. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Leon and his wife Anne of Holden, MA; a daughter, Gail and her husband Ron Racicot of Shrewsbury, MA; grandfather of Thomas Ahronian of Boston, Leanne Ahronian of Worcester and Nathan Racicot of Shrewsbury; brother of Anne Schickel of San Diego, CA and the late Albert and Charles Ahronian. He is also survived by six nieces and three nephews. Calling hours are on Friday, December 5th from 5-8 PM at Morris & O'Connor Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth, MA. Wilhelmina L. Aiken RANDOLPH Wilhelmina L. Aiken, passed away peacefully, Dec. 1, 2008, at Cedar Hill Health Care Center, in Randolph. She was born Sept. 5, 1930, to the late Benjamin and Inez Aiken, in Philadelphia. As a young woman, she relocated to Cleveland, where she became a longtime resident. She soon found a church home and became an active, beloved member of Grace Temple Church of God In Christ, where she served faithfully for over 40 years. Employed for many years by the Cuyahoga Community Welfare Department, she still found time to volunteer with several community and civic organizations. In her spare time she loved to bake and would often spend long hours in the kitchen with her children. After a prolonged illness, she was moved to Massachusetts to be near her family. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Peterson; son, LeShon Aiken; three grandchildren, Nigel Peterson, Shanice and Jordan Aiken; and one great-grandchild, Isaiah Peterson; as well as a host of family and friends, who will mourn her passing. AMESBURY, Robert R. 96, of Vernon, CT, and formerly of Wellesley and Cotuit, MA, loving husband of the late Elizabeth (Elwell) Amesbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. Born in Boston, son of the late Walter and Jenny (Ford) Amesbury. He grew up in Newton and Waltham and lived in Wellesley for over 30 years before retiring in Cotuit. Prior to that, Bob was an engineer for over 40 years at the former United Carr Fasteners in Cambridge. He was an avid yachtsman (a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Woods Hole for many years) and skeet shooter. He is survived by his beloved children, Carol A. Margaret is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, John R. Anderson, her cherished daughters Carol Anderson Flanagan of Grafton and Nancy Anderson Ahern of Marshfield, her precious grandchildren, Kellianne Flanagan of Grafton and John and Kaitlin Ahern of Marshfield, as well as her sons-in-law Gerald Flanagan of Grafton and John Ahern of Marshfield. Her sister, Mary Murphy Hill of Homosassa, FL. as well as several nieces and nephews also survive her. Her brother, John A. Murphy, sister Ruth Murphy Williams and her beloved niece Linda Murphy Dallamora predeceased Margaret. Born and raised in Framingham, MA, Margaret was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Murphy. She was a graduate of Forsythe Dental School and was a dental hygienist for a private practice in Framingham. During her time at Forsythe, Margaret met and later married John R. Anderson of Weymouth. They resided in Framingham for several years before moving to Marshfield, where they made their home for over 45 years. Margaret continued her career as a dental hygienist at private practices in Marshfield. She went on to be the elementary school dental hygienist for the Towns of Norwell and Rockland for over 20 years. She loved working with children, cleaning their teeth and teaching them about dental health. Margaret was a Girl Scout Leader and an active member of St. Christines Ladies Sodality. She loved to sew and made beautiful clothes, and enjoyed needlepoint and gardening. She was a devote follower of Saint Jude and supported the St. Judes Childrens Fund. Jeffrey Andrejczyk, 30, of 86 East Street, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008. He leaves his parents, Ronald B. and Jane E. (Morrison) Andrejczyk of Clinton; two brothers, Phillip Andrejczyk of Clinton and Kyle Andrejczyk of Amherst; his beloved paternal grandmother, Carolyn B. (Baer) Andrejczyk of Clinton; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Jeffrey was born in Leominster and was a lifelong resident of Clinton. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of 1996. He worked as a cook at J's Restaurant in Bolton, Fidelity Investments, Marlboro, and most recently at the R.F.K. Action Corps, Lancaster. Jeffrey was a life member of Our Lady of Jasna Gora Parish. An Eagle Scout, he enjoyed hiking and loved being in the outdoors. Favorite pastimes include shopping at the Salvation Army stores, golf, cooking, movies, trivia games, and ice sculpting. He loved music & dancing, playing guitar, and attending concerts. He especially loved spending time with his special friends and cousins. June Bennett, who was lovingly nicked named "Bubba" by her grandchildren, passed away on Dec 1, 2008 at Nashoba Hospital in Ayer after a brief illness. June was born on February 16, 1938 in Newburyport, MA to Mamie Perkins Hanson and Clayton A. Hanson, and was raised by her step-father, George Cashman, Sr. She was a graduate of Newburyport High School with the class of 1955, she was a retired Federal Employee, having worked for the U.S. Army at Ft. Devens, MA and Ft. Gordon in GA. She resided in Leominster with her surviving daughter Rhonda Trobaugh and grandchildren Phelps, Nina and Shelby. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, leaving to cherish her memory are: sons Jay Edler and Deb of Clinton, MA and their children Steve, James & Tracey; Charles Bennett of Leominster and his children Perri and Zack; and daughter Kristen O'Brien and son Jake of Leominster. Surviving brothers are George Cashman, Jr of Ayer, MA and Clayton Hanson and wife Janis of Newburyport, MA. Surviving sisters are Karen Cashman Schuren of Fitchburg and Patricia Isabella Brugh and her husband Donald. CROWE, John "Jack" Age 77 of Grand Haven, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008 at a Grand Haven Hospital. Jack was born on Nov. 18, 1931 in Somerville, MA to Martin J. and Bina (Collins) Crowe and married the former Shirley Wildrom on July 7, 1953 in Grand Haven. Jack was a banking executive for Muskegon Federal Savings & Loan, President of AmeriBank, and also served on their board of directors. He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Detroit. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Jack was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where he was an usher and also served on the Finance Committee. He was active with the local Meals on Wheels Program, was a member of the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post #28, and was a lifetime member of the Grand Haven Elks Lodge. Thomas M. Dewey of Ashby, Leominster oil co. retiree, vet; 61 ASHBY Thomas M. Dewey, 61 of Ashby, died unexpectedly at his residence on Dec 3. He was born in Boston, on June 6, 1947, son of the late George and Louise (Cheverie) Dewey. He grew up in Hough's Neck, moved to Littleton in 1962, and graduated from Littleton High School, Class of 1966. Tom then joined the U.S. Coast Guard serving as a Fireman during Vietnam. He started farming for Robinson Farm in Littleton and then worked for Leahy Trucking for 20 years. Most recently, he worked as Fleet Maintenance Supervisor for Peterborough Oil Co, in Leominster for many years. Tom was married to Donna (Smith) Dewey in 1980, and they have made their home in Ayer until 1987, New Ipswich, NH, until 1993, and Ashby until the present. His passion was the water and sailing, He was also a member of the Teamsters Union, NRA, and was a member of the American License Plate Association where he collected license plates. His survivors include his wife, Donna (Smith) Dewey of Ashby; 5 children, Michelle Bergeron of Arlington, VA, Kathi Bray and her husband, Paul of Leominster, Jason S. DORN, Kenneth J. Of South Dennis and formerly of Needham, died on December 02, 2008, with his family at his side, after a long and courageous battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. He was married for 61 years to Canadian-born Jacqueline (Jacquie) Dorn. Born in Poughkeepisie, NY, Ken served in the Navy in World War II. After naval service, he attended and graduated from Fordham University, with a major in accounting. Ken's business training served him well in his career as a sales executive for UARCO. Ken and Jacquie lived for 33 years in Needham. Ken was active in St. Bartholomew's Church and in chairing fundraising events for Catholic Memorial and Ursuline Academy. An avid tennis player, Ken & Jacquie were active members of the Needham Pool & Racquet Club. Twenty years ago, Ken & Jacquie established their permanent home on Cape Cod, where Ken was once again an involved member of the community. For 23 years, he served as President of the Ocean Edge Owners' Assoc., where he & Jacquie spent their summer months. A voracious reader, Ken volunteered for many years at the Brewster Ladies' Library. Ken loved his family dearly & is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; Sister Mary Frances, & four children. Kenneth J. Dorn, III and his wife Virginia, of Medfield; Deborah A. Counter and her husband, George of Virginia; Marguerite M. Dorn and he husband, David McEvoy, of Needham; and John C. Ann Patricia "Pat" (Fleming) Edwards, 84, of Hopkinton died on Dec. 2, 2008 at Milford Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Ralph G. Edwards, Sr. for 59 years. HYANNIS —William H. Eshbaugh, 77, of Centerville, died Dec. 2, 2008, at Cape Cod Hospital. Born in New Jersey, he moved to the Cape in 1963. He spent the majority of his career in the insurance industry, initially working for the L.C. Antonellis Agency on the Cape, which he purchased in 1967. Upon taking ownership, it was renamed the W.H. Eshbaugh Insurance Agency. He retired in 1999. Mr. Eshbaugh served as a selectman for the town of Barnstable from 1974—1977. He also served one term on the Personnel Board. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; and two sons, William Eshbaugh Jr. and his wife, Megan, of Largo, Fla., and Peter Woodbury and his wife, Jodi, of Wilbraham. He also leaves his daughters, Sarah Gentile and her husband, Brian, of Worcester, and Jennifer Nixon of Chesapeake, Va. Two of his brothers also survive him, John Eshbaugh of Mont Vernon, N.H., and Peter Eshbaugh and his wife, Ruth, of Mashpee. His surviving grandchildren include, Jack and Isabella Woodbury of Wilbraham, and Alexandra and Maya Nixon of Chesapeake, Va. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Son Jeffrey, with wife, Janet, and daughter Heather of Forestdale, also survive him. BREWSTER —Vera L. Fields, 81, of Brewster, died on Dec. 2, 2008, from complications following surgery at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Elfriede and George Haesloop, and wife of the late Stanton Fields. A resident of Sea Pines, Brewster, for 30 years, she became a real estate broker upon moving here from River Edge, N.J. Her practice quickly grew and she became a major and much-trusted resource for the Mid-Cape. FISHER, Doris Mary (Stiefelmeyer) Age 93, died peacefully, Nov 24 on the eve of her 69th Wedding anniversary with her beloved husband C. Miller Fisher and son Hugh A.G. Fisher at her bedside. FULCHINO, Ralph Albert 66, who resided in Naples, FL, formerly of Fairfax, VA, passed away December 1,2008. He was born October 23, 1942 in Lynn, MA to the late Maria and Albert Fulchino, Sr. After graduating from Boston College, he received a Master's Degree in Economics at Columbia University and a PhD in International Affairs at Georgetown University. He served in the Navy as a Telecommunications Officer. He was later assigned to the National Security Agency (NSA) as a special liaison to the White House. His business career spanned over 35 years of executive management for government, commercial and international businesses, including Senior Vice President positions with COMSAT, PRC and SAIC. He began his own global services consulting company, specializing in strategic alliances with international technology-based enterprises. Ralph also complemented his career by serving as a noted lecturer at several universities, including most recently at Hodges University and Florida Gulf Coast University. Ralph enjoyed most being with his friends and family, particularly his four grandchildren: Ryan, Stephen, Henry and Paolo. His warmth and engaging enthusiasm plus abundant energy will be greatly missed by all. HYANNISPORT — Terrell Moreland Griggs, 77, widow of the late Alexander M. Griggs, died at Hospice Buffalo, on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008. A summer resident of Hyannisport for almost 60 years, she was a regular volunteer at Cape AIDS Ministry. Mrs. Griggs served from 1985 to 2004 as a chaplain to hundreds of people living with AIDS/HIV+ and their families, principally in the Buffalo, N.Y., area where she was recognized as a pioneer in AIDS education and pastoral care. A nationally recognized speaker on the world pandemic, she conducted hundreds of workshops to help address the spiritual needs and care of people and families affected by AIDS. A graduate of Chatham Hall and Smith College, she was a current member of the Hyannis Port Club, Hyannis Port Civic Association and West Beach Clubs. She also served on the vestry of St. Andrews-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church. She is survived by four daughters, Ellen Griggs of Boston, Carolyn (Lynn) and Phil Ryan of Solana Beach, Calif., Mary Louise (Lulu) and Prentiss Orr of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Terrell (Hallie) and David Delorey of Newton. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a stepbrother; stepsister; and a brother, W. Ford Moreland II of Pittsburgh, Pa. Margaret Hagopian died peacefully in her sleep on November 13, 2008. She was surrounded by her five children and caregiver in San Francisco where she lived with her daughter Tina, son-in-law Thomas and grandson Garrett. She was born on July 24, 1918, the eldest daughter of Olga and Kazar Arakelian who came to the U.S. from Kharput, Armenia. She grew up in Whitinsville, MA, where she was known for her vivacious personality, wry sense of humor and lovely voice, often singing at church events and holiday parties. In 1942, she married Jacob Hagopian and later moved to California, settling in San Jose in 1952 where Jacob was employed at IBM. His research led to the magnetic strips on ATM and credit cards carried by most Americans. Margaret became an integral part of IBM lore when her nylon stockings were used in Jacob's invention to control the coating on a grooveless magnetic disc, a critical advance for the rapid retrieval of stored information. Margaret and Jake were married for 56 years until his death in 1998. They were very active in the Armenian community, starting the Armenian Society in the 1950s in San Jose and co-founding St. Andrew's Armenian Church in Cupertino, CA with several Bay Area families. Margaret served on the Parish Assembly and was the first chairlady of the Ladies Aid, a Matron of the Daughters of Vartan and participated in many charitable events. She enjoyed painting, loved flowers, reading mysteries and continued a weekly bridge game for over 40 years. She was also a volunteer at the local hospital, read Braille and translated books for the blind. Of all her interests, singing remained a lifelong pleasure until the end of her life. She is survived by her two sisters, Vickie Bedigian of Whitinsville and Helen Andrews of San Francisco; brother Varky Arakelian of Whitinsville; sister-in-law Margaret Arakelian of Sutton and predeceased by brother Ted Arakelian. Her loving family includes daughters Eva Long of Eugene, OR; Ruth and Tina Hagopian of San Francisco; Jan Nikitin of Los Gatos and son David Hagopian of Santa Clara, CA; her grandchildren, Dana Long, Simon Malone, Dyan and Michelle Hagopian, Marshall and Clayton Adler, Kathryn Gallagher, Taylor and Garrett Jaquysh; and great grandson Theodore Long. Harold A. Heins, 87, a long-time resident of Sturbridge, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Radius Healthcare Center in Southbridge. He was the husband of the late Marjorie (Shine) Heins. Born in Sweet Springs, Missouri in 1921, he was the son of the late Otto and Laura (Bauer) Heins. Harold settled in Sturbridge, having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After many years as a dairy farmer, he worked as a millwright for Galileo Fiber Optics in Sturbridge, prior to his retirement. Harold enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and ATV riding around his beloved farm. A large part of the farm was recently put into conservation for the enjoyment of all. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Heins, and his wife Nancy of Salem, NH; three daughters, Cheryl Heins of Holland, Marilyn O'Brien of Southbridge, and Susan Merle of Holland; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lillian Kottman of Grain Valley, MO, and Laura Jean Herdman of Lake Lotawana, MO. Hill. Born July 17, 1958, in Lowell, she grew up in the Belvidere section of the city and attended the local schools, graduating from Lowell High School in 1976. After receiving her Business Degree from Andover Junior College, she made her home in Kingston, New Hampshire for 10 years before moving back to Lowell in 1994. She worked for Hanscom Air Force Base for many years before working for Converse in Reading for over 10 years. Besides her mother, Doris, she is survived by a brother Gregory J. Hill and his wife, Pim, of Los Angeles, California; a sister, Anne Marie Hill and her husband, Scott Davis, of Winchester; six nephews, John Hill of Salem, Eric Hill of Salem, Marine LCPL Brett Hill, currently serving in Iraq, and Owen Davis, Alec Davis, and Graeme Davis, all of Winchester; her cousin and good friend, Arline Dubiel of Lowell; and her close companion, Frank Strules of Lowell. Kevin L. F. William Lawton HANOVER Bill Lawton passed away in Lake Placid, NY on Monday, December 1 at the age of 86. Mr. Lawton was the husband of the late Edwina (Barnes) Lawton. He is survived by his son, Robert M. Lawton of Manassas, VA, his daughter, Janet M. Mellor of Lake Placid, NY and his granddaughter, Elise Lawton Mellor of Lake Placid, NY. Bill started working at the South Weymouth Savings Bank as a teller in 1951 and retired as the President and Chief Executive Officer in 1984. Mr. Lawton was born in Wareham and was a longtime resident first of South Weymouth, then of Hanover prior to moving to Lake Placid, NY 9 months ago to be with his daughter and family. Bill entered Brown University in Providence, RI in 1940, leaving College in 1942 for service in the Navy as a Fighter Pilot on the Bismarck Sea in 1944 until the ship was sunk by Kamikaze off of Iwo Jima in 1944. Mr. Lawton became the holder of the Distinguished Flying Cross and 4 Air Medals. He went back to Brown University to finish his education and graduated in 1947. Among many affiliations, Bill was the past Trustee of South Shore Hospital, a member of the George R. Bean American Legion Post #401, a member of the Wessagusset Lodge of Masons in Weymouth, the Scottish Rite in Boston and the Aleppo Temple, Boston. He was a past active member of the Old South Union Church of S. Weymouth and the First Congregational Church of Hanover where he was a delegate to the Finance Committee, an usher and deacon. Mr. Lawton's favorite hobby was flying and driving his Mustang convertible. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Hanover, 515 Hanover St., Hanover on Sunday, December 7 at 2:30 p.m. Internment will be private in the Hanover Center Cemetery. Louise Myra Mable HINGHAM Louise Myra Mable, a Hingham resident for the past 60 years, died on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at her home at the age of 89. Mrs. Mable was born in Bridgeport, CT and was raised in Woonsocket, RI and South Weymouth, graduating from Weymouth High School. She was very proud of winning the Miss South Shore Pageant at the age of 16. During World War II, Mrs. Mable was a welder at the Hingham Ship Yard and later became a counselor and social worker and was a great comfort to those suffering from substance abuse. During her many years in Hingham, she was an active volunteer at the Hingham Senior Center and many other programs for the elderly and needy on the South Shore. She also was a member of the Hingham Historical Society, the Hingham Womens Club and sang with the OPALS, a local choral group. For over 50 years Mrs. Mable was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hingham where she sang in the choir. She was the wife of the late Earl D. Mable, the late Edwin R. Morton and was the mother of Billee Louise Morton of Hingham, Robert Andrew Morton of Hanover and the late Edwin R. Morton. Also survived by her grandchildren; Krysten Noel Carey of Scituate, Carrie Vestine Buckley of Hull, Ed Morton and Randy Morton both of Florida; and her great grandchildren, Liam Dare Carey and Joshua james Carey both of Scituate. In addition, she leaves her daughter-in-law, Janet Morton of Summerfield, FL, and was the sister of the late Hazel Dyer and the late Robert Burns. Lena Marion (Rinfrette) Quinn, 91, died on Thursday, December 4, 2008, in Saint Vincent's Hospital Worcester Medical Center after a short illness. Lena was born on December 20, 1916, in Douglas, MA, the daughter of Frank X. Rinfrette of Canada and Aurore Matte of Douglas. She was raised in the town of Douglas and earned her bachelor's degree in education from Worcester State College. Later in life, she returned to graduate school and received a Master's Degree in French from Assumption College. Mrs. Quinn worked for many years as a French and Latin teacher in the Douglas public schools, retiring in 1985. Her grace and dignity in the classroom were an inspiration to countless numbers of students throughout her teaching career. After retirement, she worked for several years as a volunteer in the gift shop at the former St. Vincent's location on Providence Street. Lena greatly enjoyed reading, classical music and the opera. She was a passionate reader who read more than fifteen thousand books during her lifetime. She also immensely enjoyed traveling and visited numerous foreign countries to include Turkey, Greece, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, Austria, England, Ireland, and the former Soviet Union. Mrs. Quinn is survived by her five children: Robert Francis, Jr. and his wife Mary of Worcester, Thomas Matthew of Clark County, OH, Bruce Anthony and his wife Serafina of Holden, Ralph Joseph and his wife Deborah of Douglas, and Suzanne Marie of Plaistow, NH. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren and one great-grandson. Her husband, Air Force Major Robert Francis Quinn, died in 1958 and her brother Matthew Rinfrette died in 1983. Her funeral will be held on Sat. Dec. 6 from Jackman Funeral Home 7 Mechanic St. Douglas with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug Rd., Douglas. Shirley F. (Reeve) Reeves, 78, of Norton died at home on Sunday November 30, 2008. She was the beloved wife of the late Durward B. Reeves.                                                       Born in Nelson, Nebraska on November 15, 1930 she was a daughter of the late Russell and Audrey (Williams) Reeve.       She is survived by her devoted children Douglas W. Clarence E. Sloan, 88, of Holliston St. died Sun. Nov 16, at his home. His wife Mona P. (Keenan) Sloan died in 2005. A WWII Navy veteran, Roy was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a sheet metal worker for Local 17. He was athletic and played hockey and baseball at Quincy High and later for teams on the South Shore, and remained an avid hockey fan. Married for 65 years to his beloved wife Catherine M. (Griffin) Smith, Roy is the beloved father of Catherine Smith and Janet Sullivan, both of Quincy and Roy M. (Flanagan) Soares, age 87, of Winthrop, died peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, in the Abbott House Nursing Home, surrounded by her family, following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Retired Winthrop Firefighter Manuel "Jack" Soares. Born in Winthrop, Ruthie was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Lillian G. (Fraser) Flanagan. She attended Winthrop Schools, and was a graduate of Winthrop High School Class of 1939. She has made her home in Winthrop her entire life. She enjoyed ceramics and bingo. Most important, however, was caring for and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Summer vacations to "Merrymont" were always the highlight of the year. She was a longtime communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Winthrop. Ruthie's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers of the Abbott House Nursing Home for their never-ending care and love to Ruthie in her final months. PLYMOUTH Irene Elise Sorensen, 62, passed away on December 4, 2008 after a courageous battle with a long illness. Irene is survived by her husband Dr. James R. Sorensen of Plymouth, and her five sons: Brian Sorensen of Sterling Virginia, Scott Sorensen, Andrew Sorensen, Greg Sorensen, and Matthew Sorensen all of Plymouth. Born February 5,1947 in Bronx, New York, Irene is the daughter of Dominick Pesce and Tessile Barbero of Oceanside, New York. Irene leaves behind two sisters, Elise Kunkel of Rockville Centre, New York, and Adrienne Sorensen of Patchogue, New York, also three grandchildren, Brady Sorensen, Dominick Sorensen and Bradlee Sorensen all of Plymouth. Irene earned her undergraduate degree from Manhattan School of Music and her Masters Degree from Hosftra University. Later she began her career as a teacher of third grade. After moving to Plymouth, MA, Irene was appointed the Director of Ocean Sprays Cranberry World. More recently, Irene worked approximately 25 years as a member of Ocean Sprays Grower Relations Department. Irene was an active member of the community, serving through hospice volunteering, charitable events, specifically the Avon Breast Cancer Walk, and was a volunteer organist at church services. Born on December 21, 1928 in Pittsfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Louis R. and Marguerite (Guillaume) Bronlund. 1951 she graduated from Simmons College School of Nursing and worked for 8 years at the Glover Hospital in Needham. She married Gilbert S. Stubbs in January of 1951, and devoted her life to raising a family. She was also a Girl Scout leader and taught Sunday School for several years. She volunteered as a nurse with the Blood Mobile, and was a member of the MIT Matrons and the Wellesley Garden Club. Helen M. (Notaro) Thompson-Legault, 85, of Sholan Terrace, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008, in River Terrace Health Care, Lancaster after an illness. Her first husband of 24 years, William G. Thompson, died in 1972. Her second husband of 4 years, Albert Legault, died in 1982. She leaves a daughter, Lee A. Moser and her husband Jeffrey D. of Templeton; two brothers, Joseph Notaro of Clinton and Vincent Notaro of Florida; a grandson, Gregory S. Moser and many nephews and nieces. She was born in Clinton daughter of Saverio and Reina (Pompa) Notaro and lived most of her life in Clinton before moving to Sterling 6 years ago. Helen worked Quality Control part time for Nypro Inc. in Clinton for several years. She was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church in Sterling and loved cooking, gardening and making crafts in her spare time. Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 6th, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Lancaster. CARVER Phyllis J. Wetherbee, of Carver, formerly of Plymouth and Scituate, died at her home on December 3. She was 85. She was the wife of the late James Maxson. Beloved mother of Barbara Wetherbee and her husband Russell Cook of Exeter, NH, John Wetherbee of Weymouth, Peter Wetherbee and his wife Ann of Canton, Jennifer Byrne and her husband the late Thomas Byrne, and Kara Wetherbee of San Francisco, CA. Beloved wife of 48 years to Elliott Whyte. She enjoyed bingo at St. Ann's Church in Wollaston and playing the daily lottery. She attended many Air Force reunions around the country with her beloved husband Elliott. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. HINGHAM Joyce (Rice) Wilson, 71, a Hingham resident since 1961, died on Wednesday, December 3rd at her home after a long illness. She was born in Somerville and spent her early life in Wellesley where she graduated from Wellesley High School. She then graduated from Framingham State College and went on to teach in the Ashland and Norwell Public School systems. In more recent years, she taught at the Wilder Memorial Nursery School in Hingham. Mrs. Wilson, also was an active member of the Weymouth United Methodist Church. She leaves her husband, William Wallace Wilson of Hingham; her daughter, Susan L. Lord and her husband Daniel of Herndon, VA; her son, Steven William Wilson of Princeton, MA; and her two granddaughters, Jennifer and Christine Lord of Herndon, VA. She was the daughter of Gladys L. (Southern) Rice of Hingham and the late Harold F. WU, Zhongzhe Retired Chief Engineer, born Sept. 2, 1927, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008. He was 81. He went to high school during Japanese invasion of China, college during Chinese Civil War, raised family while contributing to the infrastructure of China and enduring the Mao era, and lived his happiest time being closer to his children when he immigrated to North America. Born to Yaopu Wu and Guichu Chen in Pujiang, Zhejiang, China, Mr. Wu is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jing, a grandson, Leon, 2 daughters, Yi (Emily) and Dai, and a son, Peng. WHITMAN Catherine M. (Gray) Young, the beloved wife of the late John R. Young, died peacefully and unexpectedly, at her home, Dec. 3. Kay, as she was known by family and friends, had just celebrated her 87th birthday at Thanksgiving, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was passionate about her family and took great delight in their interests. Kay was the longtime school lunch director at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School. Even after her retirement, she kept in touch with the girls from the cafeteria. Kay was also a devoted volunteer at South Shore Hospital and had many treasured friends there. Kay enjoyed gardening and cooking with her late husband John. They worked side by side cooking and baking respec- tively at school banquets and for 4-H campers. Kay possessed a simple passion for life. Her extraordinary strength to face adversity and heartbreak with grace and dignity had kept her family strong. She will be greatly missed. Kay is survived by her children, John R. Young of Litchfield, Conn.; Kate Hannon of Marshfield, Susan Stokinger of Whitman, Elizabeth Young of Fairfield, Conn., and Marston Mills and Eileen Miller of Whitman. She also leaves behind two sisters, Eileen Perkins of Wakefield, R.I., and Marion Perkins of Hingham; as well as 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her services will be held Monday, Dec. 8, at 10 a.m., in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary), Whitman.
