Alfred Craven, 86 years old, died in Life Care Center of Raynham, on December 6, 2008. He is the beloved husband of  Anita (Young) Craven of East Taunton.  He was born in Berkley son of the late Manuel and Rose (Thomas) Craven and he is the step son of Laurentina Craven of Taunton.   He was a graduate of Taunton High School.  A Taunton resident most of his life until he retired to East Falmouth.  He served in the US Army during WW II as a paratrooper and received both the Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster medals.  During this time he was a member of the First Special Service Force, a combined Force between the US and Canada, known as the Devils Brigade.  After the war, he and his wife Anita, went into business with his brother in law, Del Young and his wife Helen, and they owned the Kennel Club in Raynham, Craven Oil Co in Taunton and two Laundromats on Cape Cod.  He was as member of the DAV; VFW; and  the American Legion. Fred was a avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and loved going to Foxwoods Casino, traveling, playing cards, bowling and telling jokes.  However his greatest source of enjoyment were his loved one.  He is survived besides in wife and step mother; a son Alfred Craven and his wife Meredith of Wilmington,,VT and two daughters, Deborah Vasconcellos and her husband Joseph of East Taunton and Barbara Studley and her husband Robert of Taunton.  He is the loving grandfather of  Fred, Jim ,Kajsa, Taylor, Eric, Derick, Shawn, Meghan, Carol Ann, Bobby and Steven and great great grandfather to Jairek, Noah, Lean, Bret, Casey, Erica, Christopher and Caitlin,  Fred is the brother of Roseline Davis of Taunton and Dennis Craven and his wife Peggy of Las Vagas, NV.  He was the brother of the late Hilda Butts and Elise Ducharme.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral from the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave, (Route 138 South) Taunton, Wednesday at 10:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Family Church, Middleboro Ave, East Taunton at 11:30 AM.  Interment St Joseph’s Cemetery.  Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8PM.  To light a candle, get directions or to access the memorial register go to www.hathawayfunerals.com Crapo-Hathaway Home for Funerals, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton, MA   |
Theresa Anctil of Leominster, St. Cecilia member; 80 LEOMINSTER Theresa (Champagne) Anctil, 80, of Leominster, MA, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at home surrounded by her family, after an illness. She was born July 7,1928, in Fall River, MA, the daughter of the late Alfred and Diana Champagne, and came to Leominster MA many years ago. She leaves her beloved husband of (60) years, Louis N. Mrs. Anctil was a member of St. Cecilia's Church in Leominster. She enjoyed wintering in Clearwater, Florida for many years. Her family was the joy of her life and everyone always looked foward to Memeres traditional spaghetti supper evey Sunday. She was the heart of her family and will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Walter B. Baxter, 77, of Worcester, died Friday, December 5th in Holy Trinity Nursing Center. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Barbara A. (Ronayne) Baxter; two sons, Thomas W. Baxter and his wife Cyndi and Kenneth L. Baxter all of Worcester; a daughter, Jodie Martineit and her husband Edward of Sterling; a brother, Robert Baxter of Scituate; a sister, Agnes Ronayne and her husband Lawrence of Worcester; seven grandsons, Adam, Brian, Nicholai and Alexander Baxter and Christopher, Conor and Kevin Monaghan; and nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, the son of Lloyd E. and Anna G. (Quinlan) Baxter and graduated from St. Peter's High School and Quinsigamond Community College. Mr. Baxter was a firefighter for the City of Worcester Fire Department for 34 years, retiring as Lieutenant in 1995. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council 88. Walter served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. John J. Biagiotti Sr. retired Billerica firefighter, was founder of town paving co., Army vet; 76 BILLERICA John J. Biagiotti Sr., age 76, husband of the late Jeannette (Vachon) Biagiotti, died Sunday, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was born in Somerville, December 7, 1932, son of the late Roger Biagiotti Sr. and the late Eva (Mocogni) Biagiotti, and lived in Billerica for the past 73 years. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Biagiotti was the founder of the John J. Biagiotti Asphalt Paving Co. in Billerica having operated the company for 44 years. He was a retired Billerica Firefighter having retired as a Lieutenant in 1989 after 32 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Solomon Post, the Billerica Lodge of Elks, the Son's of Italy and the American Legion. Mr. Biagiotti is survived by his 3 daughters, Deborah Biagiotti and her fiancé, Tom Babcock of Billerica, Anita Kane and her husband, Jack of Northwood, NH, and Linda Calabrese and her husband, Robert of Billerica; his son, John J. Gaetano "Guy" Bognano BRAINTREE Gaetano Guy Bognanno, also known as Sonny, died Friday evening at his home in Braintree after a long illness. He was 71. Guy was born in South Boston and graduated from South Boston High School in 1954. He had lived in Braintree for the past 29 years and worked in the Boston School System Music Department for many years. He was an avid musician and a member of the Bob Jennings Orchestra for over 18 years. Guy started playing professionally at the age of 13 and continued to play until his stroke in 2001. He loved teaching and playing music, touching thousands of people over the years. The music industry will miss this talented sax man. Guy is survived by his two sons, Richard Bognanno of Braintree and Guy Bognanno and his wife Lori of Weymouth. He is also survived by his former wife Doreen Calascibetta and numerous friends and relatives. Barbara Barnes Brown, 74, of Westborough, died on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the beloved wife of Rev. F. Robert Brown for 51 years. Born in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Barbara (Feary) Barnes. She was a graduate of Colby College and a member of Tri Delt sorority. In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother, she worked at the New England Home for Little Wanderers, for the Bridge in its early days in Westborough and for Allen's Nursery School. She also was a well-known crossing guard, a job that she loved. She was also a faithful listener for the Listening Ear (often a last resort for desperate people). Bobbie was a member of the Evangelical Congregational Church and sang in the church's choir. She was a former member of the Westborough Community Chorus, was a volunteer for FISH, and a former member of the Council On Aging. She quietly adopted several shut in seniors and assisted them with food preparation, cleaning, personal hygiene and transportation. In 1985 the Westborough Grange proclaimed her as "Citizen of the Year". Like so many others in her family, she died of Alzheimer's disease. But she never complained or felt she had been treated unjustly. She was a woman of real class both while living and even while dying. In addition to her husband Barbara is survived by her children, Allyson and her husband Robert Roose of York, ME, Cynthia and her husband Michael Hogan of Tucson, AZ, Tamara and her husband Dan Wolfe of Herndon, VA, Glenn and his wife Carol Cox of Medfield and Jim and his wife Carrie Cowan of Westborough; one sister, Peggy and her husband Cal Dyer of TerraHaute, Indiana and nine grandchildren, Meighan, Robert, Chris, Kendall, Tori, Lindsay, Peyton, Campbell and Becca. George W. Burke PLYMOUTH Mr. George W. Burke, 73 of Plymouth formerly of Hull and Hanover died at home on Saturday, December 6, 2008. The son of the late William J. and Mary A. (Page) Burke, he was born in Boston on June 17, 1935. He was raised and educated in South Boston and was a graduate of Franklin Institute. Mr. Burke lived in Hanover for 28 and Hull for 16 years before moving to Plymouth a few months ago. He served in the Merchant Marines and Navy during Korea and was later employed as Assistant Superintendent for the MBTA Blue Line, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the DAV, American Legion, loved Irish and Country music, Disney World, the ocean, reading, sitting out on the porch in Hull, his Shelties and above all he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan (Perry) Burke, 3 sons, George W. Burke and his wife, Rosanna of Hull, Stephen M. Burke of Orlando FL and Timothy P. Margaret R. Cruise BROCKTON Margaret R. (Neafsey) Cruise, 85, of Brockton, left this world peacefully, Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, surrounded by her family, at the Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in North Easton, after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Cruise. Born May 28, 1923, in Brockton, she was a daughter of the late Edward Neafsey and Mary Ellen (McCarthy) Neafsey. A lifelong Brockton resident, she was a 1941 graduate of Brockton High School and was an active member of her class reunion committee. Margaret worked in the Brockton Welfare Office, followed by many years in the Brockton City Clerks Office. Margarets greatest joy in life was her family. She will be sadly missed by her children, Margaret Peg Cruise of Brockton, Mary Ellen Churchill and her husband Jon of Chatham, Paul Cruise and his wife Patti of Bridgewater, Brockton City Councilor Timothy Cruise and his wife Donna of Brockton, Maureen Cruise of Brockton and Meghan Cassidy and her husband Gerry of Brockton. Margaret was grandmother of Sean, Siobhan, Caroline, Michael and Joseph Cruise, Ned and Bridget Cassidy. Marion C. DeGrande was teacher's aide at Billerica school; 83 BILLERICA Marion C. (Twomey) DeGrande, age 83, wife of the late Domenic DeGrande, died Saturday, at the Lexington Health Care. She was born in Ireland, July 12, 1925, daughter of the late Cornelius and Rebecca (Young) Twomey. She lived in South Boston for many years, and also in Billerica, prior to her illness. She volunteered at the Life Care Center in Billerica, and as a Teacher's Aide at the Parker School. She is survived by her 2 sons, Joseph DeGrande and his wife, Mary of Stoughton, and Richard DeGrande and his wife Kathi of N. Reading; her sister, Sheila Csiszar of Hyde Park; 5 grandchildren, Melissa, Michael, Timothy, Ryan and Brooke DeGrande and her great-granddaughter, Madison DeGrande. CANTON Michael B. DelLongo, of Canton, formerly of Quincy, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Cedar Hill Healthcare Center in Randolph. He was 87. Mr. DelLongo was the beloved husband of the late Marjorie (Palmer) DelLongo. Born in Quincy on June 17, 1921, Mr. DelLongo was the son of the late Faustino and Teresa (Carullo) DelLongo. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1938 and served for the US Navy and US Coast Guard during WWII. Mr. DelLongo was employed by General Dynamics at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy and also worked for the Brewster Wallpaper Co., of Boston and Canton. He is lovingly remembered by his family for his wonderful singing voice and his love of dancing. Mr. DelLongo was also an animal lover who was particularly fond of cats. Mr. DelLongo is survived by his sisters, Janet Baldassini of Braintree, Lorraine Lecomte and Dorothy McDonough of Wilmington and by many nieces and nephews. Paul Winston 'Win' Dunn former Westminster firefighter, planning board member, active in town, Navy vet; 81 WESTMINSTER Paul Winston "Win" Dunn, 81 of Westminster, died peacefully, Saturday, December 6, 2008, surrounded by his wife, two sons, and daughter-in-law, at the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home in Gardner. He was born in Gardner on July 20, 1927, a son of the late Dr. Paul E. and Helen (Dawley) Dunn. He was a graduate of Fitchburg High School in the Class of 1945, and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theaters of war, and also served in the Korean War. Win was a salesman representing many companies in the New England Area, and most recently the Westminster Cracker Co. He was also the former owner of the Gardner Office Supply Co., for several years. He lived most of his life in Westminster and was an active member of the community. He served on the Westminster Fire Department, and was a member of the planning board, and played drums in the town band for many years. He coached baseball for the Police Athletic League, was an assistant football coach for the Oakmont Regional High School. Win was a member of the Douglas E Hicks V. F. W. in Westminster, and the William S. Miller American Legion Post in Westminster. He was a longtime friend and supporter of the First Congregational Church of Westminster. Win leaves his wife, Mary (Jones) Dunn; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Keith B. Dunn and his wife, Martha of Middletown Springs, VT, and Trent C. He moved to Braintree three years ago, previously residing in Wareham. Virginia Mae (Julian) Fortier, 84, died suddenly at her home on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008. She was married to Aimee L. Fortier on July 6, 1946 in St. Anne's Church in Fiskdale, He died on Sept. 19, 1967. She leaves her son, Jeffery A. Fortier and his wife Sheila of Wales, and her daughter, Beatrice A. (Fortier) Martin and her fiancé David Hunt of W. Brookfield. She also left six grandchildren - all of whom were her pride and joy, Jeffery A. Fortier II and his fiancé Terry Morgan of Wales, Cheryl and John Phillips of Charlton, Derek S. Varnum and his fiancé Mary Chipman of Holden, Corey Varnum and his fiancé Kate Allard of Ware, Kyle Martin of W. Brookfield, and Katelyn Martin of Spencer: nine great grandchildren, also her pride and joy, Andrea and Allison Fortier, Brandon and Devin Phillips, Leah, Courtney, Cassidy and Derek Jr. Varnum and 2 month old Owen Rucki: also a step grand-daughter, Erica Norcross. She also leaves a brother, Ralph "Butt" Julian; four sisters, Delores "Del" Anger, Shirley Paulhas, Georgette "Dot" Benoit, all of Sturbridge, and Lucille "Lu" Caron of Danielson, CT. She also had two god children, Lorraine DaDault of Southbridge, and Lenny Julian of Florida and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored and loved very much. She is predeceased by her brother, Lenwood "Len" Julian and her sister, Pauline "Peg" Courtemanche, who passed four days previous, on Dec, 2, 2008. She was born in Fiskdale, the daughter of Leodore and Edith (Clark) Julian and lived in the area most of her life. Let it be known, she enjoyed life to the fullest and found good in everyone she met. Her absolute favorite thing was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her bell collection which numbered over 300. She was a member of St. Christopher's Church in Brimfield. She served as President for the Woman's Relief Corps, was a proud life member of the American Legion Post 109, she served as their treasurer for over 20 years, also she was a proud member of the VFW and Senior Citizens Centers in both Sturbridge and Wales. Virginia was employed at Palmerino Wholesalers in multiple locations in Southbridge for over 22 years. From the inception of the business until her retirement in 1989. James D. Gillis MILTON James D. Gillis, age 56, passed away peacefully at Golden Living Center - Norwood, on December 6, 2008. The devoted son of Ann T. (Tagan) Gillis of Milton and John L. Gillis & his wife, Joann of San Antonio, TX, he is survived by his loving brother & sisters; John F. X. Gillis of Quincy, Jeanne F. Gillis of TX, Linda G. Gentile of Medford & Andrew C. Gillis of WA. He was Uncle Jim to 4 nephews. Most recently a Milton resident, he was born in Boston and grew up in Quincy. Jimmy was a charter participant of the 1st Special Olympics and a winner of multiple Special Olympics Gold Medals. A longtime member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 51, earning the Order of the Arrow, he was the first individual with Down Syndrome to become an Assistant Scout Master in BSA history. He was a former employee of Stop & Shop and Papa Ginos, both in Wollaston and the Common Market, Quincy, and spent many years in the sheltered workshop of Work, Inc. in North Quincy. In addition to his lifelong participation in the Special Olympics, Jimmy's other athletic pursuits were softball and basketball for Till, Inc., including several seasons when they were the champs, and candlepin bowling for Saint Ann's Parish, Wollaston. He was also an avid sports fan, devoted to the Boston Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics and the New England Patriots, but his greatest passion was for WWE professional wrestling, which he watched regularly on television and attended on occasion. His hobbies were watching television, eating and making friends. His favorite show was "The Wizard of Oz," his favorite meal was lasagna and his friends are everywhere. PLYMOUTH Ashley V. Holmes, 76, of Plymouth, passed away Friday, December 5, 2008. He was the loving husband of Agnes Holmes for 40 years. Ashley was born June 30, 1932 in Plymouth. He was the son of Ernest V. Holmes and Susan (Finney) Holmes. Ashley attended Plymouth schools, and after graduating from Plymouth High School in 1950, he enlisted in the United States Army where he was a sergeant in the 510th Tank Battalion AP046. He served during the Korean War. Ashley worked and owned cranberry bogs most of his life. As well as working for Elmer T. Holman doing excavating/construction work for many years. He was an avid sports fan who also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards at the Screenhouse and his recliner. In addition to his wife Agnes, Ashley is survived by his son, Donald and his wife Yvonne Lincoln-Holmes, step-sons Richard Wall, Jr. and his wife Terri, Allan Wall and his wife Donna, Glen Wall and his wife Toni, step-daughters Joan Brugger and Susan Fugazzi and her husband Robert as well as his brother Bernard and his wife Elizabeth Holmes and his sister Eldora Courtney.  Jane L. (Andrade) Rogers, age 86, died suddenly Saturday, Dec 6, 2008. A lifelong resident of East Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Barret) Andrade. She was the wife of the Late William Hathaway and the late John Rogers. She was educated in Taunton Schools. A retiree of Morton Hospital, she also worked at the Raynham and Taunton Dog Tracks. She was the mother of Mat Tavares and his wife Celia of Carlisle, Manuel Hathaway and his wife Cindy of Taunton, Jean (Hathaway) Spangler of E Taunton, Anne (Hathaway) Sauerbier of Taunton, William Hathaway and his wife Bonnie of N. Dighton, Frank Rogers of E. Taunton, Steven Rogers and his wife Lori of E. Taunton, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Jane Burgoyne and her husband Allan, a niece and several nephews. Jane was known for her courage and strength, having raised seven children almost single-handedly after the sudden deaths of her husbands. Known as a devoted mother, she took in her sister’s child after her sister’s death, cared for her son Frank after he was disabled in an automobile accident, and helped raise many of her grandchildren. She loved Sunday dinners and her favorite vacation spots were San Francisco and Las Vegas. Mary Rose ( Stanek) Stefanik, 95 years old, died in the Baptist Nursing Center, Scotia, NY on December 6, 2008.  Born in Coventry, RI daughter of the late John and Sophia (Kulpa) Stanek.  She lived most of her life in Taunton and was a graduate of Taunton Schools.  She held a variety of jobs and in 1940 she married her  husband, Michael John Stefanik, who died in 1956.  She retired as a caring and loving attendant at Taunton State Hospital.  She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish.  Mary took great pride in her home and enjoyed sewing as a pastime.  She made beautifully tailored clothing for herself and her family.   In 2000 she moved to Upstate NY to live with her son, Michael Francis Stefanik and his wife Patricia.  She was also the mother of two deceased sons, Michael John Stefanik, Jr. and Michael Joseph Stefanik.  Mary  is the grandmother of Patricia Stefanik and Michelle Stefanik (both of Albany, NY.)  A song lyric that they wrote as children and still sing as adults reflects the love they have for her. She is survived by a sister Anne Stanek of Taunton and a sister in law Bertha Stanek of Taunton.  Mary was the sister of the late Frank and Peter Stanek and is the aunt of several.  Her strength of character during a number of personal tragedies and her love of other has been demonstrated repeatedly during her life.  Her belief  in the love of God remained a constant.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend an hour of visitation at the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave, (Route 138South) Taunton on Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church at 10AM.  Interment St Joseph’s Cemetery. Philip D. McDonough former Lowell Sun press room foreman; 77 FLORIDA Philip D. McDonough, 77, of Florida and New Hampshire, died unexpectedly, December 5, 2008, after a brief illness. He was the widower of the late Jean T. (Reynolds) McDonough who died in 1997. A son of the late Edward F. and the late Marion (Duff) McDonough, and brother of the late Edward F. McDonough. He was born April 7, 1931, in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools, including Keith Academy. He served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Phil worked for the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald, formerly known as the Herald Traveller, and retired as Press Room Foreman from the Lowell Sun in 1987. He spent his time between Hampton Beach, NH, and Pompano Beach, FL. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, bowling, and spending time in the pool. He was a Life member of the Elks, as well as the American Legion. He was a prankster by nature and everyone appreciated his quick wit. In spite of all the ribbing he gave, he had many longtime friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed sharing his cookies and Milky Ways (cold ones) with them. He is survived by three children, Maura A. McDonough and her partner, Christine K. Jablonski, of Tyngsboro, Martha M. Coy of Derry, NH, and Brian P. J. Arthur Morin was Lowell biscuit co. worker, WWII vet; 80 MANCHESTER, NH J. Arthur Morin, beloved husband of Sandra L. (Tabor) Morin, with whom he would have celebrated 30 years of marriage in April 2009, died Friday, December 5, 2008, at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH. He was 80. He was born in New Bedford, on April 14, 1928, a son of the late Joseph and Rose Alma (Duhamel) Morin. Arthur had lived in Lowell and Dracut prior to moving to Manchester, NH 29 years ago. Arthur was a WWII Veteran, having served in the Army. He had worked for many years in the shipping and receiving department at the former Educator Biscuit in Lowell. He enjoyed his family, gardening, sailing, fishing, and traveling, especially the cross country trips he took with his brother Paul, and restoring old jeeps. He was a Loeb Fellow in the Harvard University Design School. He began teaching at Wheaton College in Norton in 1967, where he met his future wife, and he worked for the College in different capacities for 41 years. In 1986, Jerry became the Vice President of Government Affairs at Siemens Corporation, heading their office in Washington, DC. In 2000, he transitioned to being the Executive Director of the Business-Higher Education Forum. Upon returning to New England in 2004, he returned to Wheaton as Director of External Affairs and Associate Professor of Government and Political Science. Jerry was the consummate blend of intellectual and romantic. His love of history, literature, apple trees, long beaches, Jazz, laughter, and family gatherings drew countless admirers and followers. Edgar F. Perkins town of Harvard retiree, Army vet; 93 HARVARD Edgar F. Perkins, 93, of Harvard, died peacefully at Saturday December 6, at Apple Valley Nursing Home in Ayer. He was born in Fitchburg, on March 3, 1915, son of the late Charles F. and Emily (Holmes) Perkins. He was the husband of Ruth Virginia (Gundersen) Perkins. They were married September 30, 1939 in Ayer and recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Edgar was a lifelong Harvard resident. He graduated from Bromfield High School in 1933. He was employed by the Town of Harvard in 1934, and retired in 1981 where he worked as a school Custodian and Cemetery Superintendent. He was also employed by Charles A. Perkins Engineering in Clinton, MA. Mr. Perkins served honorably in the United States Army from 1943 until 1945 and was stationed in England, France and Germany and was at Normandy on D-Day. He enjoyed spending weekends with his family at his camp on Franklin Pierce Lake in Antrim, NH. His love for the outdoors included gardening and his favorite pastime of searching for and collecting glass bottles from old farms sites. His collection numbered in the thousands. He and Ruth were active in members of the Harvard 60-Plus Club and they both enjoyed dancing. In addition to his wife, Ruth, he is survived by his daughter, Claudia R. Muck of Tulsa, OK; his sons and daughters-in law, Ralph E and Debbie Perkins of Milton, VT, and Dana H. Perkins and Debbra Ward of Lunenburg, MA; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles A. Perkins, and Paul D. Perkins, and his sisters, Ethel Kinsman and Blanche Waterman. WEYMOUTH Henry Wilton Phillips, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the age of 94. Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife Virginia (Pray) Phillips, his daughter, Janice P. Bidmead and her husband Ernest of Norwell, his son, Lawrence W. Phillips of Sandwich, his grandchildren Steven Wallstrom of Pembroke, Deborah Perrault of Leominster and Lawrence W. Phillips Jr. of Sandwich and his great-grandchildren Ethan, Kaitlyn, Kylie and Emma Perrault all of Leominster. Will was a life long resident of Weymouth and graduate from Weymouth High School in 1931 before graduating from Wentworth Institute in Boston. He was a supervisor at the Quincy Shipyard during World War II and then a clerk for Bellingham Hardware Store in Weymouth for many years and the Welch Hardware Store in Scituate for may years before retiring in 1981. Henry was a member of the Orphans Hope Lodge of Masons in Weymouth and loved gardening, woodworking, fishing and painting. Friends and relatives are invited to the Funeral Service at the C.C. Josephine H. (Mason) Santor, 69, of Millbury Road, died Friday, December 5, 2008, in her home, after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Alwin "Al" C. Santor of Oxford; seven children, Winfield "Scott" Santor and Yucha Santor of Auburn, Barbara Johnson and her husband Ed of Shrewsbury, Tarry York and her husband Herb of Oxford, Clyde Santor of Oxford, Bert Santor and his wife Marie of Worcester, Richard Santor of Webster, and Lynn Schold and her husband Scott of Millbury; a sister, Mabel Patten and her husband Dallas of New Hampshire; nine grandchildren, Brian Duffy, Jackie Santor, Ken, Stephanie, and Trisha York, Jonathan and Julia Santor, Eddy Johnson and Lisa Grazulis; three great grandchildren, Derek Rodriguez, Jordyn-Lynn Grazulis, and Edward Johnson III; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, Winfield L. Mason Jr. of New Hampshire; and two sisters, Veneda Murphy of New Hampshire and Eunie Eastman of Michigan. She was born in Lebanon, NH, the daughter of the late Winfield L. and Josephine M. (Martin) Mason, and lived in New Hampshire and Whitinsville before moving to Oxford in 1973. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1957. Mrs. Santor worked at the Big Y Supermarket in Worcester for many years, retiring in 2004. She was devoted to her family and loved her cats. STROJNY, Theodore S. 85, of Westborough, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2008, at the Westborough Healthcare Center, after a short illness. He was a hard working, principled, and deeply religious man who came from humble beginnings. One of seven children, he was born at home in Taunton, MA in 1923. A standout high-school athlete, he earned a scholarship to Holy Cross College, where he played tackle on the football team and was a member of the team that defeated Boston College in the 1942 game that preceded the infamous Cocoanut Grove fire. He also played in the Holy Cross 13-6 loss to Miami in the 1946 Orange Bowl. He was a decorated Veteran of World War II, where he served as a reconnaissance specialist in Italy. After college and the war and a brief foray in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams and the Pittsburg Steelers, he began his career with the Bay State Abrasives Company in Westborough, first as a machine operator, then as a foreman and general foreman. His manufacturing and management skills landed him the managing directors' position in European start-up venture in Luxembourg in 1962. He retired from Bay State in 1980's and lived in Westborough with his wife Elizabeth, who died in 2002. He was a Communicant at St. Luke the Evangelist Parish in Westborough for many years, as well as a food pantry volunteer, and a member of the choir. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golf, outside work, a good meal, a good drink, and a good conversation. He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Nancy Strojny of Wrentham, two grandchildren, Drew Strojny and Amanda Kate Strojny of St. Petersburg, FL, as well as his sister Anne Kula of Taunton. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 9 AM in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery. SUGDEN, Thomas W. Age 90, a resident of Chelmsford for the greater part of his life, died on Sunday, December 07, 2008. He was the beloved husband of the late Glendyse E. (Petterson) Sugden who died in 2004. He was born on June 26, 1918 in Hudson a son of the late Thomas W. and Frances (Goodchild) Sugden Sr. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in Panama from 1937 to 1939, and of the United States Navy, having been a Transport Pilot flying the Pan-Africa route. Following his discharge from the Navy in 1945 he continued as a pilot flying for Pan America Airlines and then for TWA. During the 1950's Mr. Sugden was a distributor for E.I. DuPont DeNemours Explosives, which contributed to the building of the major highway system in the Northeast. Mr. Sugden had worked as a Building Contractor, having built over 600 homes in the Chelmsford and Greater Lowell areas. He also built many apartment buildings in Lowell and Amesbury, MA and Milford, NH as well as commercial buildings in Milford, NH. He was a former member of the Homebuilders Association of Greater Lowell and a member of the West Chelmsford United Methodist Church. He is survived by a loving daughter, Lynn Le Maire Chaput and her husband, Ronald M. Chaput D.D.S of Chelmsford, two grandchildren, Beth Carter M.D. and her husband Jonathan of West Springfield and Charles T. Le Maire of Boston, and a great grandson, Alexander Carter. He also leaves two nieces, Barbara Blanchard of Westford and Mildred O'Connell of Falls Church, VA and several great nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7pm at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford.
