She is survived by: children, Alice Goulart of Swansea, Ildeberto Alves & Manuela Miguel both of Fall River, Helio Alves of Terceira, Azores; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Maria do Carmo Laurenco & Evangelina Andrade.

Tristin S. Kalif, age 24 of 21 Vestal St. Son of Will Kalif and the late Linda (Rodrigues) Mello. Passed away August 16, 2007 in Boston after a brief illness.
He was born in Fall River and a life long resident.

FALL RIVER — Arthur J. Marquis Jr., 42, of Lapham Street Fall River, died Thursday at St. Anne’s Hospital.
He was born in Newport RI a son of Susan (Munroe) Tonry and the late Arthur J Marquis.
He was a Self Employed Salesman for many years.
He was a graduate of Apponequet Regional High School in Lakeville class of 1984.
He has lived in Fall River most of his life, living in Assonet in his childhood.
Mr. Marquis was an avid Music collector, a D.J. enjoyed playing cards, Texas Hold ‘Em, spending time with his family.
Besides his mother he is survived by 2 brothers Brian E Marquis of Rehoboth, Christopher Shaughnessy of East Providence, 2 sisters Wendy Marquis of Fall River, Heidi Burgers of Taunton, 3 nieces and a great nephew.
His best and closest friends Raymond Cavara of Fall River, Karl Duclos of Fall River. Several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins.
He was the cousin of the late Anne Connolly, Donald Kidd, Matthew Munroe.

Irene (Taveira) Motta, age 98 of 159 Ivanhoe Ave., Somerset. Passed away August 18, 2007 at Southpointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of Manuel Motta & daughter of the late Joseph & Mary Taveira. Born in Fall River and a resident for most of her life. She was a member St. John of God Church & the I.L.G.W.U. Before retiring, she was a Sewing Machine Operator for various Fall River Garment factories.
She is survived by l son: Greg R. Motta & his wife Sharon of Swansea. l sister: Fanny Perry of Somerset. 4 Grandchildren & 4 Great Grandchildren. Nieces & Nephews. She was also sister of the late Mary Reis.

Marc A. Quintal
Marc Aaron Quintal, 20, of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. Born in Fall River, he was the son of Delores Bettencourt and Mark Quintal both of Fall River. He had worked as a roofer in the local construction industry for several years. Marc enjoyed all sports, listening to music, playing video games, and especially loved baseball, having played in leagues from T-Ball to CYO. He was a member of various all-star and championship teams, locally (as with the Fall River City League at Dumont Field) and playing to tournament finals in Florida.
Besides his parents, he is survived by: a sister, Erica Marlene Quintal of Fall River; maternal grandparents, Anthony "Sonny" & Delores P. (Vieira) Bettencourt of Fall River; aunts, uncles, cousins, friends. His paternal grandparents, Edmund & Marlene (Correia) Quintal predeceased him.

Richard Spence
Richard Spence, age 82, of Bristol, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2007, in Berkshire Place in Providence. He was the husband of Muriel C. (Card) Spence to whom he had been married for the past 60 years.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late James W. Sr. and Ivy (Isherwood) Spence. He spent his youth in Fall River before moving to Bristol in 1953.
He was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School class of 1942 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Brown University in 1950. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
Mr. Spence was a Civil Servant at the Naval Underwater Systems Center in Newport for over 25 years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Mount Hope King Phillip Lodge in Somerset and was on the Republican Town Committee in Bristol. He was an avid golfer and a do-it-yourselfer. He and his wife loved to travel.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters the Reverend Pamela Spence Bakker and her husband the Reverend Richard Bakker of Long Island, New York, Deborah A. Spence of Riverside, RI, and one son Christian C. Spence of Soquel, CA., two sisters Brenda Ramsay, and Ivy Wilbur both of Somerset, two brothers John E. Spence of North Kingston, RI, and Benjamin A. Spence of Daytona Beach, FL. He was grandfather of Jeffrey Richard Spence and Danielle Alexandra Spence. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was Father of the late Jeffrey Richard Spence and brother of the late Rhoda Boothroyd, Robert and James W. Spence Jr.
His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 10:00AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited.
