Kenneth Flores

Kenneth M. Flores, 44, of Fall River, beloved son of Adelino "Al" and Claire L. (Guerette) Flores of Fall River, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007.
A graduate of Durfee High School and North Adams State College, he taught in Fall River and Taunton and was senior claims adjuster for Safety Insurance.
Besides his parents, survivors include siblings, Michael Flores and his fiancée Joanne Foster of Fall River, Susan Medeiros and her husband Douglas of Swansea, Paula Audette and her husband Kevin of Fall River and Paul Flores of Fall River; a niece, Liana Audette, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was the grandson of the late Albert and Aurore Guerette and Adelino and Sadie Flores.
His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Holy Name Church at 10:00 AM. BURIAL WILL BE PRIVATE.

Elda Margetta

FALL RIVER– Elda (Hilda B.) (Terceiro) Margetta, 90, of Williams Street Fall River died Tuesday Aug. 14, 2007 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was born in Fall River a daughter of the late Mariano & Maria deTrindade (Viera) Terceiro.
Mrs. Margetta is survived by her children, Donald J. Margetta of California, Robert J. Margetta of Fall River, Donna Fraser of Fall River, Beverly Medeiros of Westport and Barbara Miranda of New Bedford. survived by two sisters, Laura Medeiros of Westport and Mary Jean Jones of Fall River, eleven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Carl J. Margetta.

Joseph R. Nicolau
FALL RIVER — Joseph R. Nicolau, 90, of Westport passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Emily (Correira) Nicolau.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Francisco R. and Gloria (Vital) Nicolau. Mr. Nicolau lived with his granddaughter Lynda Ponte and her husband Charlie and was a lifelong resident of Westport. Prior to retirement, he was a custodian for the Westport School System. He loved the outdoors and cooking, especially cooking clam boils with his family, with whom he spent a lot of time.
Survivors include 2 sons: Joseph R. Nicolau, Jr. of MD and Edward Nicolau of MA; a brother: Manuel Nicolau of FL; 3 sisters: Aldina Rapoza of Fall River, Mary Oliveira of Westport and Ludwine Pequita of New Bedford; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, August 27, 2007 at Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River at 11:00 A.M.

John Pacheco
FALL RIVER — John Pacheco, 50, of Fall River died Aug. 22, 2007 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Robin (Marshall) Pacheco. He was born in Taunton, a son of John Pacheco of Taunton and the late Anna (Tatro) Pacheco and had lived in Fall River since 1999.
Survivors include his father and wife, a daughter Mary Pacheco, a son Juan Marshall, a brother Edward Pacheco, a sister Patricia Pacheco, 3 grandchildren, 1 niece and 1 nephew. Funeral Monday at 11 A.M. at the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River. Calling hours Monday 10 – 11 A.M.
Francis Paiva
Francis "Frank" M. Paiva age 72 of 5J Rolling Green Dr. Husband of Carol (Sullivan) Paiva. Son of the late Manuel and Gertrude (Rebello) Paiva. Passed away in Fall River August 22, 2007. Born in Fall River and a life long resident. He was a member of St. Bernard Church. Before retiring, he was a baker for Shaw’s Supermarket.
Besides his wife, he is survived by l daughter Cheryl Rego of Fall River and 2 sisters: Gertrude Troia of Fall River & Eileen Amarello of Somerset; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; several nieces & nephews. He was also brother of the late Hortense "Tess" Roberts, Margaret Arruda, & Mary Rego.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main on Saturday with visitation from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernard Church at 10:00 AM. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Marie Ruel
Marie Ange (Lachance) Ruel, 69, of Emery St., Fall River, wife of Andre Ruel, died Thursday, August 23, 2007.
Born in Saint-Come, Beauce, Quebec, Canada, she lived in Fall River for the past 41 years and was an exceptional day care provider in her home for 35 years.
Besides her husband of 46 years she is survived by sons, Gislain "Jesse" Ruel and his wife Cindy and Jacques Ruel, all of Fall River and Richard Ruel and his wife Leslie of Somerset; a grandson, Jason and siblings Lucille Daigle and Maurice, Jeannine, Andre, Yvon, Noel, Marcel, Judith and Denise Lachance.
She was the daughter of the late Jean-Louis and Marie Eve (Veuilleux) Lachance and the sister of the late Yvan Lachance.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 10:30 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Anne Church at 11:00 AM. Entombment, Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.

Robert Tavares
Robert P. "Ball" Tavares, 55, of Clayton St., Fall River, died Tuesday at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the fiancé of Lynn Andrade. Born in Fall River, MA, a son of Catherine (Carvalho) Tavares of Tiverton and the late Manuel "Manny Ball" Tavares, he lived in Tiverton for most of his life. Mr. Tavares worked as a self-employed truck driver. He also worked for Ground Earth, Inc. of Swansea for a few years and for Candigit Excavating of Swansea. He was a member of the Alive-N-Pickin Band and various other bands throughout the years. He was a NASCAR fan and also enjoyed drag races.
In addition to his fiancée and mother, he is survived by two sons, Derek Tavares of Little Compton, RI and Timothy Tavares of Tiverton; a sister,
Donna M. Tavares of Tiverton; a brother, Kenneth P. Tavares of Fall River; three grandchildren, Alyssa Tavares, Madeline and Nathan Tavares. He also leaves many relatives and friends.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St.

George G. Vandgrift
George G. Vandgrift age 82 of Swansea, Aug. 21, 2007. He was the husband of the late Barbara Anne (Chipman) Vandgrift. He was born in Trenton, NJ., on Oct. 20, 1924. He was a resident of Somerset for 30 years, and for the last 12 years he has been a resident of Swansea. He was employed for over 35 years as a Control Room Engineer at the New England Power Plant in Somerset. During World War II he was a member of the Merchant Marine.
Surviving one daughter Joy Ruess of Swansea, MA.
