Dorothy M. Deschenes

Dorothy M. (Corneau) Deschenes, age 78, of Fall River MA, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2007 at St. Anne’s Hospital, Fall River, MA. She was the wife of the late Arthur J. Deschenes.
Born in Fall River, MA the daughter the daughter of the late Alcide Corneau and Hannah (Mullins) Corneau. She was a lifelong resident of Fall River.
She was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School class of 1947, and also obtained an associates degree from BCC in 1989.
Mrs. Deschenes worked as a bookkeeper for Beneficial Finance.
A parishioner of Holy Trinity Parish where she taught CCD classes and worked in the soup kitchen, she was formerly a member of St. Williams Parish where she also taught CCD classes.
She was a member of the Irish Heritage Society and the Classy Ladies. She was a volunteer at the Fall River Public Library in the children’s room. She enjoyed genealogy, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.
She was the mother of two sons, Steven A. Deschenes of Warren, RI and the late Kenneth F. Deschenes. She is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Colleen (McCarthy) Deschenes and Nancy (Potvin) Deschenes, four grandchildren, Amy Deschenes, and Andrew S., Scott D. and Ian M. Deschenes. She was also survived by one brother, Alan P. Corneau, his wife Rita and their son Evan Corneau.
Mrs. Deschenes’ funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. from the Boule Funeral Home, 615 Broadway, Fall River, MA, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Parish of the Holy Trinity, 951 Stafford Road, Fall River, MA Visitation will be held on Monday, August 27, 2007, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.. Irene Kearns

Irene (Dostou) Kearns, 87, formerly of Lowell St., Fall River, widow of Thomas F. Kearns, died Friday, August 24, 2007.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Emelie (Beaulieu) Dostou, she was a lifelong resident of Fall River. She was employed by American Red Cross, Shelburne Shirt Co. and Kim & Jim Manufacturing and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and camping.
She leaves daughters, Barbara A. Moran and her husband Douglas of Springtown, TX and Jacqueline Rudyk and her husband Charles "Chuck" of Fall River; grandchildren, Deborah Harrison, David and Thomas Moran, Army Capt. Bryan Rudyk and Army CWO2 Jeffrey Rudyk now serving in Iraq; 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Rose Brisson, Blanche Moran and Hilaire, Albini and Charles Dostou.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Holy Cross Church of Saint Peter & Paul Parish at 9:00 AM. Entombment, Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.

Alice Mello
Alice (Oliveira) Mello, 83, of Cambridge St., Fall River, died Saturday at home. She was the wife of the late Antonio F. Mello.
Born in Fall River, MA, a daughter of the late Manuel and the late Maria (Cabral) Oliveira, she was a lifelong resident of this city.
Mrs. Mello was employed for 32 years as a floor lady, retiring from theformer Chace Curtain in 1985.
She was a communicant of Espirito Santo Parish and a member of the former Our Lady of Health Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann M. Lajun and her husband Ron of Myrtle Beach, SC; a son, Stephen Mello and his wife Diane of Little Compton, RI; a sister, Agnes Beaulieu of Fall River; a grandson, Jesse Mello; a granddaughter, Megan Mello; several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Angelina Alves, Mary Benevides, Anna Oliveira, Silvino Oliveira, William Oliveira, Manuel Oliveira, Joseph Oliveira, Edward Oliveira and Lawrence Oliveira.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Espirito Santo Church, Alden St. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Virginia Raposa
Virginia (Viveiros) Raposa 95 of Fall River died on Friday.
She was the wife of the late Jesse Raposa.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Maria (Teixeira)and Antonio Viveiros. She was the sister of the late Everett Viveiros andDelia Arruda. A member of Santo Christo Parish, she had worked as a Sewing Machine Operator in various sewing machine shops.
She is survived by a niece Janice Costa of Fall River and 2 nephews Alan Viveiros of Rehoboth and Ron Arruda of California.
Her Funeral will be held MONDAY at 8am from the A F ALMEIDA & SON FUNERAL HOME 1309 Globe St Fall River with a 9am Mass at Santo Christo Church.

Jean P. Wilbur
Jean P. (Schab) Wilbur, 88, formerly of Embert St., Fall River, widow of Lloyd Wilbur, died Friday, August 24, 2007.
A lifelong Fall River resident, she was a member of Amalgamated Garment Workers Union and was employed by Firestone Rubber and Anderson Little.
She leaves a son, Lloyd "Larry" Wilbur and his wife Marsha of Lutz, FL, a daughter, Joyce Perrault and her husband Albert of Dighton; grandchildren, Stephen, Brian and Gregory Wilbur, Ruth Ann Gates, Beckey Spaulding, Cheryl Morey, Christine Perrault and Kathleen Benjamino; a sister Gladys Knadle of Lincoln, NE; 15 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Sophie (Cwiek) Schab and the sister of the late Stanley Schab.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Holy Trinity Church at 10:00 AM. Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery.
