Mary M. Budreau

WORCESTER - Mary M. Budreau, 62, of Worcester, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after a long illness.
Born and raised in Framingham, daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret G. (Cotter) Budreau, she attended St. Stephen's School and Marian High School in Framingham.
She worked for the former Jordan Marsh Co. before moving to Worcester, where she lived for the past 30 years. She enjoyed many close friendships during her years there, but her happiest moments were when she was with her family.
She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews - her room was filled with their pictures - and it gave her the greatest pleasure to buy them presents and hear how much they enjoyed them.
A loving, caring aunt, sister and daughter every day of her life, even when her health was deteriorating, she continued to be concerned about everyone else and never complained.
She leaves her sister, Marlene F. Chaplin of Framingham; a niece, Donna Barry and her husband, Michael, of Holliston; and a grandniece and grandnephew, Colleen and Sean Barry of Holliston.
She was the aunt of the late Christine and Donna Chaplin.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m., at St. Stephen's Church, 251 Concord St., Framingham.
Burial will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Framingham.
Visitation will take place Friday, Aug. 24, from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m., at the Eugene J. McCarthy and Sons Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham.
Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Kidney Foundation, 6110 Executive Blvd., Rockville, MD 20852; or American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Scott M. Casassa
HOPKINTON - Scott M. Casassa, 51, of Hopkinton, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, on Martha's Vineyard.
He was the husband of Arlene Casassa of Hopkinton.

Margaret M. Fitzgibbon
MARLBOROUGH - Margaret M. Fitzgibbon, 89, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at St. Patrick's Manor, Framingham, after a long period of failing health.
She was born in Oswego, N.Y., daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Maher) Fitzgibbon, and lived in Utica, N.Y., before moving to Marlborough several years ago to be with her family.
She was employed for many years as a secretary for SRI International of Menlo Park, Calif., retiring in 1983.
She was a member of St. Bernadette's Parish of Northborough and previously a member of the former St. Ann's Parish of Marlborough and St. John's Parish of Utica.
She leaves her cousins, Dr. J. David Fitzgibbon of Syracuse, N.Y.; and her goddaughter, Margery Waldron, and her family, Robert Jr., Thomas, Jennifer and Matthew Waldron, all of Marlborough.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 9:30 a.m., at the Chapel of St. Patrick's Manor, 863 Central St., Framingham.
Burial will be in Mr. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro, N.Y.
Visiting hours are Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., prior to the Mass, at the Chapel.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home in Marlborough.

Elaine I. Getter
PORTLAND, Ore. - Elaine I. (Citron) Getter, 84, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Robison Jewish Health Care Center.
She was the wife of Carl M. Getter, who died in December 1993.
Born in New York City, the daughter of the late Morris and Irene (Greene) Citron, she spent her formative years in New York and had lived in Natick for more than 40 years before moving to Portland in 2005 to be close to her son. She was a receptionist for Seiler's Food Services in Waltham before retiring.
Mrs. Getter was an accomplished painter and enjoyed still-life painting of landscapes and portraits in oils as well as watercolors. She had a varied interest in music and particularly enjoyed designing silk floral arrangements.
She was an active member of the Wayland Senior Citizens while living in Natick. She enjoyed being with people and will be missed by those who knew her.
She leaves her son, Richard M. Getter and his wife, Shigemi, of Portland; her sister, Joyce Kaplan of Moraga, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, Aug. 23, at 10:45 a.m., at Sharon Memorial Park, 120 Canton St., Sharon.
Visiting hours are Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.

A. Carolla Haglund
BRUNSWICK, Maine - A. Carolla Haglund, 87, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at her home at Thornton Oaks Retirement Community in Brunswick, Maine. She was the former Dean of Women and Associate Professor Emerita at Framingham State College.
Born in Waterville, Maine, a daughter of Oscar and Eva Person Haglund, she was a graduate of Waterville High School and worked for 12 years with an insurance company. She then went to Gorham State Teachers College, where she received her bachelor's degree. She attended Clark University and received a master's degree in liberal studies from Wesleyan University.
After teaching in Springfield, she joined the faculty of Framingham State College as a member of the history and geography departments. She later became highly regarded as dean of women, leaving to work again in the history department and to develop the international education program.
She also created a history course dealing with the Western frontier and women in history. Christa McAuliffe, the first teacher astronaut on the ill- fated Challenger, was a student in her class.
Miss Haglund enjoyed music very much, singing and playing trumpet for many years. Later, with her partner, Genevieve Clark, she studied the recorder for 25 years with the late Anton Winkler of Cambridge. Baroque music was her major interest. She studied art at the deCordova Museum in Lincoln and worked in watercolor, and also became a fine calligrapher. After moving to Maine, she studied Japanese brush painting with Jean Kegel. Gardening, especially tending iris, lupine and day lilies, was a seasonal passion.
An avid tennis fan, she followed the major tennis tournaments and played the game until three years ago.
She was a member of the American Recorder Society, Maine Calligraphers Guild, National Trust for Historic Preservation, Mid Coast Retired Educators Association and several other related organizations. She was also a member of the First Parish Church in Brunswick.
After they retired, she and Ms. Clark traveled to many European countries including, Sweden, Norway, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Spain and Switzerland, where she climbed to the top of the Rothorn.
Ms. Haglund and Ms. Clark enjoyed watching the boats go by and entertaining friends and family on the deck of their ocean-front summer home, Windfall, in East Boothbay.
She leaves her partner of 57 years, Genevieve Clark of Brunswick; her sister, Ruth Manchester of Waterville; five nieces and nephews; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
She was the sister of the late Elizabeth Parsons.
A service will be announced at a later date.

Linda Moran
SOUTHBOROUGH - Linda (Drake) Moran, 55, of Southborough and Brewster, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at her home with her husband and six children by her side, after a courageous nine-year battle with breast cancer.
She was the wife of Kevin Moran for 33 years.
Born in Framingham, the daughter of Marguerite (McNeil) Drake of Framingham and the late Robert Drake, she was a 1970 graduate of Elizabeth Seton High School of Natick and Merrimack College of Andover, Class of 1974.
She taught school in Bellingham's Junior and Senior High School until she started her family and became a devoted full-time mother. While raising her children, she worked part time for Framingham Savings Bank, Robert A. Drake Co. of Framingham, Southborough Medical Group and New England Center for Autism of Southborough.
She was the proprietor of the Coffee Garden, Bakery & Cafe of Southborough, where she was well known for her baked goods. She then returned to her love of teaching, most recently as a fifth-grade teacher at Margaret Neary Elementary School in Southborough. For the past five summers, she worked at the Brewster General Store.
She enjoyed a very active life, with trips to Maine skiing, antique shopping and climbing Bald Mountain during every season. While on Cape Cod she enjoyed walking the beaches, kayaking, biking and swimming, and took pleasure in family trips to Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Disney World and visiting her children in the various parts of the country in which they were living.
Mrs. Moran was a very active member of Kindergroup of Southborough where she was a daily coordinator, and Southborough Organization for Schools. In 1992-1993 she was named volunteer of the year by SOS. She was also an involved member of Algonquin Booster Club where her daughters participated in many school sports. She was a dedicated fan at Marian High School athletic events in which her son took part.
An avid runner, while battling breast cancer she completed the Boston Marathon in 2005, Disney World half marathon in 2006 and 2007, along with local annual road races including Falmouth, Brewster and Southborough. She was a member of Southborough Dinner Club, St. Matthew Church and St. Anne Church, all of Southborough.
Mrs. Moran's favorite passion was raising her children.
Besides her husband and mother, she leaves six children, Julie A. of Boca Raton, Fla., Catherine C. of Breaux Bridge, La., Megan D. of Quincy, Coast Guard Petty Officer Kerri E. of Massena, N.Y., and Molly E. and Kevin P., both of Brewster; five siblings, Judy Beattie of Nashua, David Drake of Framingham, William Drake of Hingham, Michael Drake of Framingham and Gregory Drake of Franklin; a granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at noon, Thursday, Aug. 23, at St. Matthew Church, Highland Street, Southborough.
Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Morris Funeral Home (www.Morrisfuneralparlor.com), 40 Main St., Southborough.

Walter E. Pope Jr.
HOLLISTON - Walter E. Pope Jr., 58, of Holliston, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at his home.
Born in Boston, he was the son of Mary A. (Walsh) Pope of Holliston and Walter E. Pope Sr., who died in 2004.
A Holliston High School graduate and a retired manager of the Pope Industrial Park, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, flying and reading.
Besides his mother, he leaves three children, Walter E. Pope III of Texas, Leeland T. Pope of Billerica and Christopher R. Pope of Holliston; a half brother, Ronald King; two half sisters, Nancy Briggs and Carol Yerardi; his former wife and friend, Michelle Pope; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon.
A funeral will be held Thursday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Church in Holliston.
Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Natick.
Visiting hours will take place Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the C
